Not really sure why they broke again, I'm making this post to make sure the uploaded files stay in the server, or something :p
-
I slept on it and the best idea I have right now is a CPR simulator in VR lol What a weirdly open yet not theme :)

francoisvn;56044" said:@Tuism: BTW, all those pics in your last post show up as no-entry signs for me. I assume it's cause those are from Google photos or something and permissions aren't open. Should repro in an incognito window :) Thanks for that!…

Hey! Thanks for joining our first online meetup! We had a few technical hiccups due to the pretty novel platform, but it was great overall :) We'll likely try using zoom next time to get even more people in, Mozilla Hubs starts having connection is…

Feels good! All the little bits of juice really adds up nicely :) Some small tweaks I could think of: - The camera's smooth follow was probably a bit too much, as @Elyaradine said. Many games have more "dead zone" where the player can move without …

krazysh01;55990" said: I'd be willing to show mine off, I'd most likely be in VR though so will have to figure that out :P Rad, from in VR the best solution is probably doing a PDF or a video. Or just go for desktop + screenshare/webcam share. Let …

Ya'll smashed it! Congrats!

I would really like to see some examples of what work they are delivering/expecting to be delivered. Company portfolio would be ideal but I'm cool with anything really :)

Hi all, the rules post had been woefully out of date. I've updated it with the most current info. Let me know if you see anything out of place. Ta!

BenJets;55917" said:Oooooh! I can make this now! If there's still an open space for a talk I'd be stoked to contribute something! Yeah dude you're welcome to! That's rad! :D All that's needed is a PDF. I've locked permissions in that room so that …

For a crash course in using Hubs, here are some resources: Basic control schemes: https://hubs.mozilla.com/docs/hubs-controls.html Customising avatars: https://github.com/MozillaReality/hubs-avatar-pipelines (Please keep the models low-poly, WebVR…

Man, you guys are crushing it with the prototypes! :D

@Lauren I've gone through the form and couldn't figure out what the "virtual NAF platform" will be? Is it a website? A VR event? A youtube channel? On the one hand, yes be imaginative and don't be limited by media, but on the other hand, limitation…

@estellebabymama that's great! So you didn't have to show on your own hardware? That's rad!
-
Yeah I know how it can be for a parent, I still think I would be great if she came and was active on the forum herself, that engagement is valuable experience anyway if she's interested in gamedev, whether she finds an internship directly from here …

A piece of advice I can offer is for your kid to be doing the looking - you can help line up email addresses, look over what they write, whatever, but ask them to do the actual asking. That actually includes being involved in this forum like this. I…

I think it's easy to see your "aim" and goal, but the result just looks... Blurry. A lower res blurry is still blurry. Like the black outline bleeding out of the edge doesn't satisfy my taste. But hey if you dig it you dig it :)
-
Thanks for ya'll coming through to the meetup, we had a great attendance of 22 or 24 or something like that, lots of new faces too, and many prototypes being played and shown around. I'm a doofus cos I forgot to take pics, so please share if you did…

What is the goal for the image? If you only want to "make it more realistic" then you can google up some references of reptiles and photobash some textures in. If you want to draw and paint it more realistically, then still google up some references…

See y'all tonight!

Lol you guys I've been turned to the PC side, I realise I've been the macvocate around here but uh ^__^|||
-
That's interesting, I'm already doing dev sometimes in-headset through virtual desktop, I wonder what their version is like :)
-
But I've, for my own purposes, SOLVED THIS! It's very janky, but I've placed an invisible rigid body gameobject somewhere, made sure it's on a non-colliding layer, and applied forces to that, then simply forced the transform i need to control to ha…

Hmmm thanks for that, I'm not exactly sure what you mean, the angular velocity is definitely not localised - it's a general spin that's applied to the transform? My angular velocity variable above (shipAngularVelocity) is a variable, do you mean by…

This month: - Bring your Global Game Jam games! Mine's on my Quest and it'll make an appearance :) - Sas is talking about: Unity + Tilemaps + Pixelperfect rendering = Roguelike terminals If you got more let us know :)
-
Will check it out... Once I'm not in load shedding
-
@Pierre If I'm understanding you correctly, you mean that I should just forgo the physics system and calculate positions myself? But the point is for my physics rigidbodies to interact with the world, in attempting to go to a location, rather than b…
-
@edg3 some people use whatever latest version that their long term project is on, some use the most current. There really isn't a thing as "average version" for Unity.
-
Cool, the most important thing is for you to understand what each line of those codes mean so that you can apply the learning to future stuff. Good luck!
-
I haven't tried your code, but I can see some problems already. It has the MovePosition code with (-----------------);
-
Yeah there's no point in trying to set some kind of seconds to hours conversion rate without anything else being considered. Make the game. Numbers can be tweaked.
-
Well as much as this research is valid, this little place is actually very not representative of a potential pool of buyers. So I hope you try to reach a broader audience with this question to gauge interest. But for me, well no.
-
Yep Vega is the Joburg one this year. They have a cool slide and we can braai :)
-
No we're not doing MS this year, due to various reasons. Vega is the one I'm heading to.
-
You haven't really defined what you want, why the red ones, why the blue ones, is it important that they have X distance bewteen them, why not just actually use random.range() for the x and y values?
-
First of all, well done for releasing something - that is something cool in itself :) Feedback: 1. There's a continue button on first play. That's weird. 2. The "Buy full game" being in every menu is weird. It's okay if it's always in the same posi…
-
Did you try rb.MovePosition()?
-
isKinematic and isDynamic can be set right on the rigidbody from the Inspector, but I doubt that has anything to do with your problem - as long as you're using .transform.position = blah to set coordinates, the movement WILL NOT interact with the p…
-
@Elyaradine yeah tweaking those values have been a huge headache. I got this from some googling a while back and I can't say I know how to put in an "I" or even if it's something that could work for me :/ The major issue I'm trying to wrap my head …
-
You're SETTING the location of the object instead of moving it by physics. If you don't move something by physics, it's going be set exactly where you tell it to, with no regards for collision to anything between where it's from and where it's being…

- So first impression was "whoah so big" - very big file size for a prototype, possibly turns a few people off from trying. - The initial prompt of press 'A' to contest, is that the keyboard A or the gamepad A? Either way the message doesn't go away…
-
@Cyberwiz it's still an idea at the moment, nothing announced yet. We talked about it at the meetup, and it's likely to be a March thing rather than Feb. You joining for Global Game Jam? :)
