I've edited the joburg venue post above with more info around the event for anyone not into Facebook.

Uh I don't really go to Discord, how do I get to the channel? All the information to the joburg venue are on the facebook event linked above?

I would suggest putting up a CT venue event like I did for the joburg one and putting it up here to be a centralised redirection spot. And edit the opening post to make obvious links to those events.

Thanks for everyone's input on this, your experiences are super valuable and exactly why I mentioned this to the community :) Thorsten and I have been contacting the train people and there's a possibility of a train jam happening for real, where we…

The company has not made any more... What? Shares? Ration... Shares? Ration shares using projects? I'm afraid I don't understand what you're asking or trying to say. I think you need to be clearer about what you think "quitting" entails/means, and …

7 hours left for ratings to be done on LD42, good luck to all!

Yes it works like Ludum Dare, where you get a theme and you finish the game in two days. But that doesn't prevent you from making something that's been on your mind, or work it into the theme. The theme encourages you to be creative and spontaneous…

I've actually been super curious about this, how *exactly* do you build a 64x64 game in Unity? I know there must be different approaches so I'm not asking for a one-size-fits-all, but in this case it looks like you have sprites (I'm not Windows so c…

I'm gonna repeat something that gets said so often that it might be tiresome, but I would really start with prototyping the game first rather than designing characters first. Without gameplay, you have no idea what your art requirements are. Games t…

So then work towards that :)

That's a really broad question that will get you all kinds of answers from "because I like the art" to "flashy design" to "I like that they have good representation" to "boobs". Fighting games range from Blaz Blu to Tekken to Super Smash Bros to Dea…

Hey all! A joburg venue has been confirmed, please follow the event link and say GOING if you're interested, it'll help us make sure there's enough stuff for everyone!: https://www.facebook.com/events/700177706994385/ Details here in case you don…

Hey everyone, very impressive work! There's one more week left for rating! A reminder that while this community is great, the cornerstone of Ludum Dare is that to receive, you give first - rating other people's games will push your own games up to …

Yeah Joburg venue is being confirmed. Microsoft is out this time.
-
Pretty much. Sleeping stuff if you wanna sleep there. Joburg location is still being confirmed, dunno about Cape Town. Check the other thread for details, no sense in updating two separate threads.
-
@CGVega yeah, joining on location is a great vibe, helping people and being helped by people makes the experience much better than pulling your hair out at home. I've done jams in both settings and I'll always take a venue over no venue any day if I…

First impressions are that the game seems pretty. Good graphics. Cool 2D animation. Though the foreground characters and the background feels a bit disconnected - lots of shading in the background art that has zero impact on the player character, an…

I have discussed this with the moderation team, and on their behalf, I have issued @NickWiggill with a warning for unnecessarily aggressive behaviour. We are locking this thread for 24 hours. As a reminder, the rules of the forums can be found here…

Still asking around. I've got someone else also in town if the Goethe can't come through. Microsoft can't this time.

Troll combat: that first hit is completely untelegraphed and completely surprising. The second hit was also lightning fast. Both felt impossibly unfair. Double jump - every single jump seems to be a double jump....... What then is the point of norm…

Hey all! A reminder for tomorrow's VR meetup :) I'm actually keen to chat about these topics: 1. Most cost effective AND future-proof hardware for getting into VR now 2. Light Fields - Photo-realistic VR (if somebody can get Welcome To Light Fields…

@Pappabeer yeah same for me, I can't really play the game, the bunnies just explode too fast and I don't know if any clicks of mine are doing anything at all, and the game starts lagging really quickly. Bug fixes are allowed in LD, so see if you ca…

Went to see, not available in my country. I, like many others, have our store set to the US. Don't make it harder for people to try your game or you'll get noone bothering to. Make a webgl build our something easier.

Great point. I'm busy this weekend unfortunately but this sounds like a great thing to hit :)

Hi, congrats for putting something out, but did your initial post have anything playable or a video to get feedback on? I can't remember. I'm wondering why you went straight from screenshots to the store without actually letting someone try the game…

@rigormortis seems like I didn't explain properly, sorry - I don't need it to persist between sessions, I only need it to persist during a session. So I run this function, pass it "apple". It'll check if the int variable with the name "apple" exist…

@Fengol and @Diablo, please make Mac and/or Web builds if you'd like those with Macs only (me) to try your game :)
