Good job :D I use this thing called InstantShot and it spews out a stream of images which, yes, is unwieldy to change to video. But... I guess this ain't OSX friendly at all? >_

Erm, so I can't find anywhere WHY this would be, but my keynote wouldn't load on my Macbook, but it works on my iPad. Subsequently, I need a lightning to hdmi to run tonight's meetup, does anyone have one I can borrow?
-
Done, like that you at least changed one of those two iconic words :P

StanTheGuy;40498" said:Okay so I should put this on the backburner for a lil while and make a few things to better my rep? You say this because you think "this idea is the one", because you're attached to the idea of this idea being the one game tha…

Make something that works, that's the basic gist of it :) It can sound REALLY easy, but you'll realise how hard that easy is when you actually starting working on the gameplay, the feel. That's the real essence of what will attract people to help w…

I really like the animation, so much character with so few actual detail. It's great! :)
-
By confusing I meant unintuitive, sorry bad choice of words :) If people could understand it without being told it it would be best. But yeah until I have a better idea I can't really suggest them :)
-
The periodic symbol style "icon" is actually quite confusing. It think some other kind of iconography could have tied them all together better. Maybe there's nothing wrong with just be verbose: those aren't very long words.

So... What, you shouldn't texture, say, a concrete floor as it'll look like a floor instead of a plane? And an ice cube shouldn't be an ice cube, it should be a cube? So all levels of graphic representation should be *about* primitives and not look…

Very interesting! How does the hit detection work if your device is hidden? And it looks like you can hit people's heads, is that facial recognition? Or some kind of proximity... Wifi triangulation... Something? I suppose it can't hit legs and backs…
-
Windows only means I can't play it... But instinctively, I think as it is it looks like I can just stay pretty much in one "lane" vertically and just suck and blow the whole time (lol) without worrying about anything else? The juice is really, real…

No I mean, is it Durban? CT? PE? Or in Joburg by a nice swimming pool? :P

Here's the link to that contest info page :) It really is very useful :) https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1270074/current-contest-info

Where *is* it? I keep hearing about it and I keep wondering about it :P
-
To be honest, as much as I think boardgames should be allowed, I think it's probably a lot more efficient for boardgame designing to be among a better context than this here. There are *plenty*, and I do mean *plenty* of ongoing boardgame comps on B…

Yep, holler at me if you got anything you want to be included in the agenda :)

Yeah I applied too, it doesn't hurt to get a look under the hood. Though they said if you're in a supported country you can already start receiving payments, though I haven't figured their interface out yet. There's something unobvious about it. Ca…

@roguecode This isn't just for receiving payments, it's for the ability to do stuff that requires an US bank account, like kickstarter, or receiving money on android play store. For purely receiving payments I think Currencies Direct and PayPal alre…

Oh, did you ask for the wrong size? Or were you just testing?
-
Holy cow, did you really need an A4+ box for your game?
-
What size is your box quoted? And yeah, pretty much the cost of the setup (die and screen for printing) is the killer.
-
Yep, we're not located in a place that's convenient for global shipping, so if you wanted to do something like this, it would have to be because local demand - locational advantage. If there's not enough of that (I don't think there is), then nope,…
-
Looks better yeah, though it might be good to cut out so much heavy black (the building's silhouette), but it's already better than before :) Dunno why you have the name of the game on top of each card. That's distracting to fist time players, and …

Capital outlay and demand. If there's enough demand, cool. There probably isn't. A niche hobby within a niche is what this is, and GameCrafter is able to do what they do because they service the entire world/the US.
-
No quantity too small is always true... The only limitation is the cost :) If they had to make a die (cutting die) for one box, then basically that box bears the entire cost of the die. So it would still depend on quantity :) A while ago we were ta…

If we can organise some playtest time I'll feed everyone pizza XD

Happy to announce that Dubai is a finalist in the Cardboard Edison Awards! http://cardboardedison.com/award 11 finalists, about 110 entries. Stoked! Excite! :D I'm now working on some changes and updates to make sure a physical prototype reaches …

My prototypes tend to have the same style... drab greyscale backgrounds, thick black lines and and rounded corners :P It's a conscious effort to make things PNP friendly and for me to not worry about art over design :P Thanks guys haha :)
-
Yeah sounds like pretty standard affair as far as on-demand printing goes. Registration (lining up) back and front is tough one without quite a lot of work, and I suspect that files for these guys is better produced like a regular PNP where people w…

No worries, I was just wondering if there were some manufacturing quirks that they have that might result in things not fitting as intended :)
-
Looks rad :) I noticed that the cards layout are a bit different from the cards you rendered, did this have to do with their production/template or did you change it?

"Screenshots" :p

I see that you've built it yourself, or at least part of it... I can't tell. That wasn't apparent in your rules document, because there was nothing to see. Well now that I know that you could be bothered to build it yourself, the question is who els…

While having a constraint is nice, I'd say 20 pages is a LOT of pages, enough for me to not want to read the rules of a game. (For comparison, @farsicon only has 13 pages). And what's in a page? Is it ye standard A4 word document? Most games I've pl…

I gave the rules a read/skim: - Immediately I was struck with "I have no idea what you're talking about". What's a tile look like? What's a square? Some visuals, even rough ones, would help. I had to scroll down to the bottom to see a couple of squ…

Public Royalty-free resources are great for getting some art, Todd Sanders uses them to GREAT effect, but it takes a lot of discipline searching and archiving for your own collection - finding things on-demand is almost impossible since the librarie…

Dude! Fantastic work! I was just gonna post "wasn't there a commandos sequel that just got announced?" and I just realised I must've seen this same image somewhere else XD

Most widely used = MTG size, a google for "standard playing card size" or "magic card size" will tell you is 2.5 x 3.5 inches, or 63mm x 83mm (ish).

@quintond too early for you. You need awareness. Having a game that looks polished is not good enough. Succeeding in KS = bringing your own fans, and right now, do you have fans? Well actually, it depends on your target. If your target is pure expo…

By being seen everywhere you should be seen... For a long time. That's basically what it comes down to. Every other already-successful BG designer has gone through the same slog chatting to everyone and generally being involved in as many communitie…

A print and play is more than making the whole thing black and white. Reversing a dark picture to make it use less ink... I don't think is a great solution. for example, you need to layout the cards so that they're easy to print at home or at any p…

Who are "your marketing guys in the U.S."?

Hey! Good to see this is happening :) It would be great if you eventually decide on a set, predictable and recurring schedule, like every first Wednesday of the month or something. That way even if some can't make it one time, they can schedule it i…

Spiral Galaxy is pretty big. The BG publishing game isn't like Microsoft or Sony size stuff, it's like FFG is a big boutique and Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro are monsters. Spiral Galaxy has some real big names (in games) on their page (One Night …

On BGG, you can create an "entry" for a boardgame. It's like a database representation of a boardgame. A thread is one you make in the boardgames/WIP forum, where you present your game and ask people to comment. This is Dubai's entry This is Dubai'…
