Out of the few I've recently attended, it was definitely the most motivational. Really enjoyed it! *Opens GameMaker but not Studio 'cos I can take a hint*
Thank you for an entertaining evening! It was fun to meet you lot and thanks for the feedback from those who played Zombie Apocalypse, I am pleasantly surprised that you guys found it as entertaining as you did :)
Thank you for a great evening! I think it was perfect for a beginner or anyone keen on getting started. Plenty of content was covered, and I learned a lot, and feel far more confident in getting started \:D/
Was definitely motivational! Content was short and sweet, but I liked it that way, it didnt seem to drag on like last times did.
I still think a break/intermission is needed halfway through just to get all the talking out of your system which stockpiles while you're sitting and listening.
The meet up was great, sadly I wished I could have stayed longer, but sadly a working boy like me still has a bedtime. Hopefully next time I can show off a prototype if my own, don't keep me on that though, because as I say it the universe is conjuring a serious project I must work on. Sometimes I can't have my cake and it be a lie at the same time.
I just really wish people could see my ideas and go "WOW why are you making making this?" For me to only respond, that being brilliant at my job and needing to support myself creates a flood of endless work the crushing my dreams and washes away my personal projects.... I'm sorry went a bit emo there, long story short: I get so busy that bender has been open on my computer for the past 2 weeks with my sculpture of a male torso still unfinished.
Next meetup, I would love to have a talk from Travis on the history of Celestial, and how Toxic Bunny (the original) came about, and what lessons can be taken from it! I very briefly spoke to him at rAge about these things, and I think that others would find it fascinating!
I also heard, during the intros, one of the people was an ex-I Imaginer...would love to hear some stories 'from the trenches' about Chase!
Hey guys, random question. But was I (the red head chick in the orange top) wearing my glasses when I left? I got the crap beaten out of me at the robots (attempted smash and grab) there by monte and I can't find my glasses. D:
That is terrible! Nothing sucks as bad as loosing your glasses. I don't need to wear mine, but I sure notice they're gone when I study all day long! The last pair I lost was not cheap to replace :(
Sorry about the noob question, buuut how do I get to the venue for the next community night. I still get lost in joburg after living in balito for 5 years
@Mikdar - It's pretty simple, the Microsoft building on William Nicol on the Bryanston side. You can just take the highway offramp and it's 2 blocks away.
Guys, remember @bensonance and the team demoed two very obscure but cool sounding apps we can that we can use for our game music, what ..... were they again?
To be honest though, I downloaded Bosca Ceoil after learning about it at the talk and while it was a fun little toy I couldn't get a proper song going. For sound effects definitely use Bfxr but for music give a shout out to the student sound designers on the forums and ask them to do the heavy lifting for you.
Bfxr appears to be the "industry standard" sound effect maker when it comes to indie games.
I must say, freesound.org is freaking awesome! It's got a huge community of people doing almost any sounds imaginable. Picked up some very cool scary sound effects for my comp E entry there.

That would be me I assume...
A few years back I wrote a 9 part series of articles entitled The History of I-Imagine for Dev.Mag, so if you haven't read those (http://devmag.org.za/archives/) you can check them out... starting in Issue 10 I believe.
Alternatively, I can neaten up the articles into a single DOC and put it on my DropBox for anyone to grab and avoid the hassle of downloading multiple PDFs... be warned though... all in all it's just under 17 000 words :)
I just got the uncut video from @gareth_starstreem of the community night. Why did no one tell me I should never get up to speak because I'm so fat and I speak so poorly? In any case I will cut these up into segments tonight and upload them tomorrow and the next day.

I have a thorough idea on what should I do now
I think the format worked well! I'm a little worried about only starting at 19:00 but it felt like we got through a lot of content.
