[Post Mortem] Windows 8 Game Jam
Hi all,
@DaveRussellSA asked me to do a post mortem about the Windows 8 Game Jam this weekend:
The jam orientated around making games targeting the Windows 8 and/or Windows Phone 8. The theme chosen was: Innovation comes out of a crisis. I may have paraphrased it a little :/.
We had around 12 people attend the jam and this resulted in 6 games:
Games:

We also had some prizes courtesy of Microsoft:
Categories:
Most helpful person: @TimHarbour - Provided awesome sound and music for everyone's games!
Best game idea: Paul (He said he'll create a MGSA account soon) - a platforming game where a chicken escapes incarceration.
Best Gamemaker game: @Bensonance and @Luctastic - Essentially won because it was the only GM game left :P.
Other categories I can't remember - remind me!
Bonus Diversifiers:
- Using a visual illusion like parallax scrolling for example,
- A unique way of interacting with the game controls,
- Using minimal colours or a colour blind game mode,
- Teaching the player how to play the game without those annoying tutorial popups,
- Making the game multiplayer or having social interaction in the game.
People who attended, post a link to your game below and I'll add it to the list.
