ZAGD Response

edited in General
My thread has been locked.

OMG is just upset that his admin rights where removed...

OMG was not kicked out of ZAGD, nor was his right to post removed.

His statement holds little truth and is simply upset that his admin rights have been removed..

ZAGD still remains the largest community in SA & Posts are still being Posted.

Feel free to post the stats backing this up.
  • @Julian do you know how unprofessional you and ZAGD's behaviour is? Not only are you fighting about childish shit like who gets to be admin, you are coming to our forum to do this. Why would anyone on MGSA see this and think "Wow that is a community I want to be a part of" ?

The fact that you feel the need to say this is just sad.

  • Meh. Seriously.

  • So much drama when Julian is involved somewhere that I could use it as inspiration to write a game. That villain that just keeps popping up no matter what.

  • This probably wasn't @Julian's intent but I suddenly really appreciate the admins here at MGSA.

We almost never hear about them, which has got to be a sign of how good a job they're doing!

And they never ask for thanks. I hope they don't feel underappreciated because the fact that MGSA has held together so well and is filled with so many great people is at least partly their doing.

I feel like it's important to say that both past and present admins were instrumental to the fostering of this environment. We got real lucky to not have *that* (edit: that being egotist management of zagd) here.
  • I kind of feel that the title of this topic should be changed to something else, using a persons name on a open forum comes across as shaming.

As for the drama, Internet is full of it.

  • Hey guys I just want to apologize for starting all this drama in the first place, I should have never made my post here. I thought that by posting it I was helping people to not make the same mistakes I made but instead I just started a bunch of drama. All I want to do is make games, help others make games and have all this drama over with

as to the OP I was never angry about loosing admin privileges at all I was angry about the unprofessional behavior that was expedited towards me (making the post about me being removed as admin on someone else's public photo of me instead of in private and threatening me in PM's)

    Sorry for the trouble everyone

@OmgMrGrim don't worry about it. This isn't really drama, and despite you having a bit of an unusual intro here, the members made you feel welcome and were glad to have you here :3

  • I've edited the title of the OP to "ZAGD Response". I'm going to let this stay open, for now, less we get accused of not allowing a response. Please keep your responses civil and in line with type of community we want to foster.
  • This has been so exciting....

I can't wait to see who wins the "biggest community in SA" award.

    Hashtag nail biting.

  • Finally, a thread not locked or deleted. So as for arrogance... Every time a MGSA member has trolled ZAGD or sent me a private message I have made it public. MGSA admins have been instructed by Dave, not to badmouth ZAGD any longer. Because, every time you do that, you lose more.members to ZAGD. In the beginning, I started ZAGD to provide a place that many different communities could come together under one banner instead of being controlled by MGSA leaders who continiously encourage everyone to stay under their banner so that they can take the pickings off the top. In fact, every time that one of my members does well in ZAGD, MGSA is there to pick the cherry off the cake. As for Shawn, well his intention was to start another community and was using ZAGD to do that ... I encouraged this...However, when our investors decided that they needed to allocate roles, I removed shawn untill he contributed specifically to grow our community allong side his...I did not say that he was not allowed to continue posting. As for membership, I have released stats and screen shots many times. Firstly, we have a post view of over 500, which is around 5 times as many hits.as MGSA average thread, I have done the culculations. Furthermore, we have around 100 new members a month and.mix our.membership with gamers and internations so that you can create your own opportunities. I always see the same people posting on my threads, but the reality is ...Many games have been marketted through ZAGD and we do not have any rules...Here at MGSA you have pages of them. This does not help.anybody...but to make matters worse, many of those rules were put in place because Dave put them in place because ZAGD asked him to change policy to benefit the community, which he agreed to...and admins were let go at.MGSA...Yes, we.are not proffesional..Our goal is ti.maximize visibility... Our most succesful member post had 14000 shares in 6 hours...which was removed by me because it was.race related...but using that ad an example, well, you can only get that type of response via.social.media...Love it or hate it MGSA is becoming irrelevant and if you have read some of the private.messages that I made public, well, you would agree. Now for the admin, one sentance response or thread lock....because, there is no such thing as bad publicity and MGSA uses the thread lock because, they know that ZAGD thrives on controvercy...They don't want a ZAGD thread to be at the top of their hit base for the third time... better lock or delete now admins... http://southafricangamedevelopers.com

Woot, got the ball rolling on Twitter. :)
  • A dick measuring contest is pointless, but in the interest of transparency, @julian I'd like to understand your stats. Here are some of MGSA from the beginning of the year: http://makegamessa.com/discussion/3812/meta-mgsa-stats

Now, I'm sure I am simply just somehow missing the right link to your community. All I can see is a landing page which has a Facebook feed, and a few links to sponsors (?). You had a forum before - is that gone? And with Facebook, are you counting members as likes? If so, that's great, any people interested in game dev is good in my books. But a like doesn't remotely compare to a registration on a forum. They are different things for different purposes (hence the whole discussion above about MGSA hopefully getting more involved in social media).

Basically, it doesn't matter what site is bigger, or whatever, but let's not claim things that may not be true. This isn't some big competition to be able to claim the no.1 spot, this is about helping people, and about building healthy communities.
  • I've split the useful discussion about the website/forum changes to a new thread (here: http://makegamessa.com/discussion/4532/changes-to-forum-and-website)

@Julian has responded and I think this thread can now be closed as it seems to have fulfilled its purpose
