Board Games Night - 1st March (Hillcrest, Durban)

After the last game evening, I have been invited back to let people play The Colony. On the 1st March, we will be at the Board Games Night event at The Batcave Comics and Games in Hillcrest, Durban.

Why not come along and see the game in action or just have a chat. I will be running a couple of 4 player games and will only join in if there are not enough people.

Date & Time: Tuesday 1st March at 19:00
Location: 40 Old Main Road, Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal

Hope to see you there.

  • It was another successful night and the game played smoothly and consistently through both sessions ... so that is me now calling the rules final.

    They did pose an interesting question about playing more than 4 players and technically the game will support that ... so the next tests will involve more players.

  • I can second more players. Our Thursday night group is almost always 5 to 6 players. We jump at any 7 player games, because there is often too many guys.

    The one thing to watch is time. Although a game supports 6 players, the time to get to your turn may be too long, especially if you can do nothing during the other players' turns. Can't remember which game it was, but the one player could play his turn, go outside and smoke, come back and play the next turn and go back to finish the smoke. Pretty damn annoying for everyone actually.

  • Yeah, fortunately the turns go pretty rapidly on this game and while someone else is doing their turn most players are planning their next turn. There is definitely no time to go and have a smoke or a potty break during the turns ... unless you have invented time jumping. 8-}

    The mechanics technically should support more than 4 players and I have done some calculations on what I would need to support that.

    So I am going to wait for a few regulars to come back from business trips and holidays and will then be running a 6 player and 8 player game on the same night and see what's cooking. 8-}

    Thanks again for the heads up on the turn lengths, this is something I will pay particular attention to when we run the tests. Feel free to test with your friends and group using the Print and Play version: https://goo.gl/1CG7sx
