Stugan 2016 Open for entries

So Stugan is pretty much one of best experiences of my life. If you have an original interesting video game (that can be in almost any state from basic proof of concept all the way to almost released) then you definitely should apply for the best two months in the Swedish countryside you could ever hope to have.

  • Srsly, everyone with a prototype they're working on should apply. It costs you nothing to try :)

    @Tuism, @francoisvn, @Kobusvdwalt9, I'm looking at you.

  • I'm 100% definitely applying. Sauna and game dev for 2 months - that sounds like a glorious vacation ;)

  • Pity they don't do boardgames ;) I'm hoping we see more representation this time around - anyone have contacts with the broader african dev studios who might find this interesting?
  • @dammit: a faux board game is a pretty good way to prototype a video game. Pitch a plan of making a bunch of board games and then converting the best into a video game prototype. You can even pitch it as a bit of a prototyping method research thing.

  • Gonna apply too. Don't know how I'd fit it in logistically. But I will bend the world to my will to make it happen.
  • We accept all platforms and game types
    Playing board games together (including the project coordinators) was a massive part of the culture last year. So many games of Werewolf and Spy Party and Avalon etc. I'm pretty sure if you told an interesting enough story about your board game and made it sound interesting they would at least consider it.
  • I should probably add this, as I'm seeing a lot of back and forth around this. I think the most important part is that your pitch doesn't actually require a playable prototype (although a prototype must exist in some form). Considering the brevity of your pitch and seeing the games that were chosen last year, the most important thing is that you can tell an interesting story with your game concept. What's that elevator pitch?

    Some of last year's (that represented games in wildly different states of production):
    "A game about robots in space, with no violence"
    "A game about the government surveillance state"
    "A game about time travel and paradoxes"
    "A game about mistaken identity and an intergalactic space princess"
    "A game about solving sacred geometry"
    "A game set in the diary of a girl who's lost someone"
    "A game that can make music"

    Other than that I think the only other common denominator in all the games was that everyone was incredibly passionate, which I believe all of you are ;)
