[Project] O
Hi,
I have a new game project that runs well on chrome or firefox and would like some feed back on it. It is a quite meditative puzzle game built using three.js and webGL.
You can play the game here - loading should be reasonably fast.
I would like as specific feedback as possible on:
The difficulty of various levels
Whether it is sufficiently clear how to play (frustrating? too easy?)
The sounds and music
The rendering style and graphics
My blog about the development can be view here.

1)I'm afraid the difficulty is a tad easy, once you discover what is needed to be done, then there isn't much to solving a given puzzle. Generally it boiled down to "turn this, pull that, done".
2) I loved that after about 30 seconds of fiddling it became clear, gives it a very nice exploration vibe.
3)Alas I didn't have speakers when I played, will comment more on this later.
4) The rendering style is fine, the graphics leave much to be desired, they're not bad per se and they convey the "physicality" of the pieces. But they look cheap and dated a few texture and colour changes will be all that's needed I think.(particularly the Steel look).
A bit busy at themoment, but when I have time I'll give it another more in-depth go and give more useful feedback:)
I like how I had to figure out what to do though. It gave me a tiny sense of accomplishment.
I'm a sound guy, so I'll mostly comment on the audio.
I was using headphones, haven't tried with speakers yet, but I found the spinning sound quite annoying after a short time - it feels loud and rough and it's used at the end of each level and to start the next, so you always have two plays close together (while I'm on that, I just wanted to go to the next puzzle once I finished one, didn't really want to come back to the spiraling menu to see my progress).
The music is nice and meditative, but where did you record, and how far away from the piano were you? I'm afraid the sonic characteristics make it sound less meditative and more spooky, helped along by the simplistic box and spinning camera. I would look for a warmer piano tone (is the piano out of tune too?).
Hope that helps. Enjoyed the game.
Glad you generally enjoyed it.

I'm not and the audio stuff is all pretty new to me.

I agree with this completely - I never liked it and had never figured out why.

I chose the music but didn't create it - I think the echoing quality of the recording and the 'off'-piano in some tracks was intentional - perhaps you are right that the music is a bit to far in the experimental ambient direction; a direction I like but as you say is not really appropriate for the game.
Thanks for your comments.
