Dev. Log:
Worked whole of Saturday and Sunday until 4pm, so basically 1.6days.
Features I could not get to do:
1. Single Player against PC, currently you need to player turn by turn on same mouse with another player, like original qbasic gorillas it is local co-op
2. More polish for environment, grass, falling rocks, water, etc.
3. Random events
4. More pet uses
5. More art polish (well I'm a programmer)
6. Improve performance of deforming of terrain.
Hope you enjoy this, please let me know what you think? I use to play the original QBASIC Gorillas a lot with my brother,
this is why I remade it, since it was one of the first games which inspired me to become a games developer...
happy memories.
This also reminded me a lot of Scorched Earth AKA "The Mother of all Games" which came about in 1991, same year as Gorillas.
Mmmh, I wonder who cloned who back then? Alas it is too long ago for most people here to recognize... ;-P
I would change the monotonous music though, as it can be used as a weapon to extort information out of someone locked in a small room... :D
Just a game type I wanted to try and make for a while, but the surface updates on the terrain deforming or destructing was really performance hungry. I wonder how they dealt with this in the 80ties!
Did you see what happens when you hit the sun?
