Help me help my brother!!!

My 15 year old brother in grade 10 got merit certificates for outstanding performance in mathematics, physical science and life sciences, getting him a gold medal...

He has been teaching himself JavaScript and I've been giving him extreme algorithms to solve and he's solving them in lesser time than I can ever imagine... I want to help him get into math or programming competitions ....

Does anyone
have a suggestion of how I can get him involved into such events as they seem to be secret organizations and too far for people like us who live in the township.

You can try Google Code Jam, it happens every year and you can practice on older problems: https://code.google.com/codejam

Kinda a bit unrelated to game dev though... maybe he could participate in game jams, like the Procjam and Asylum Jam happening soon.

There's also the ACM competitions every year, but those typically need universities to form entry teams... There's a cool site at CodeChef that give you problems to practice on though.

What's the status of olympiads at the moment? Do those still happen?

@dislekcia Those do still happen in my school. But it from what I can see the teacher needs to take initiative to make it happen. Interestingly enough this year it was all online. BTW This last one was really intense compared to previous ones.

Jeez I dunno. If you just want your brother to improve then I think finding a community like this that is focused on programming will be the best thing for him. As well as just feeding him more algorithm challenges.
