Art Grants: Armello
Been playing Armello ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/290340 / http://armello.com/ ), a lovely digital board game made by an Australian studio.
The game was largely funded by art grants from Screen Australia and Film Victoria, both of them government run.
Are there any such grants in SA that would be worth pursuing, especially as an individual artist that's not "profit first" focused? Googled a bit, but maybe you guys know better.

The National Arts Council has a number of potential funding options: http://nac.org.za/
Technically games could also get funding from the NFVF: http://nfvf.co.za/
The difference in scale is quite something though. Armello has music featuring/by Lisa Gerard (!), and the two funds are for visual arts/film which means they understand about producing things that require more of a budget than "Ode to Steve Biko in Paper Mache".
Games, being multi-media, are a fantastic way to showcase the creative output of a country in several disciplines at the same time.
