[kickstarter] [art] Factory Funner :D
So I've been doing art all hush hush for a kickstarter (ok I've been saying that much but I couldn't show stuff yet), and...
It's just gone live today! :D So yay I can talk about it :D

I did all the art for it, it's really interesting to work on a boardgame to the point of production.
The biggest job were all the machines - there were 40 of them, and each of them demanded to be as crazy creative as possible - Corné (the game designer) pretty much gave me free reign on what they were - he said he wanted some interesting, some more plain - the game design insights into this was invaluable too. He wanted to make machines feel VERY different from each other - that means different in perceived size, in detail levels, in colour, shape, etc. So you can't just have detailed art on everything - you should have a variety of designs.
I also got to do some pop culture references - see the Time Machine? :)
And of course, the biggest piece was the cover art - a bit rushed, and I still want to detail it up a bit more, but the KS must launch :)
It's been absolutely awesome to work on this, I hope it really kicks arse :) I'm privileged to have worked on a kickstarter AND a boardgame :)
Oh, there's also an online game component - he built a single-player smaller-scope version of Factory Funner, which is pretty awesome too!

Check out the Kickstarter! It's actually among the most "complete" projects I've seen on KS :) A boardgame KS that launched with online versions to play, and stretch goals up the wazoo... Really interesting, learned so much, will still learn a ton too, I'm sure!

Noteworthy: A guy from Taiwan actually found me online and got in touch with me to chat about making the art for the game, and put out an entire mandarin article that basically translated the whole game into mandarin before the Kickstarter hit its first 24 hours :)
