  • Btw, I'm living in S-Africa.
  • Do you have a game you're thinking of selling soon?
    • If no: don't worry about all that yet, first make your game.
    • If yes: post it here so we can give you feedback. If you can't post if here cause it's not that far along or isn't playable, then refer to the above option.
If you really want to know, we need more details and it probably depends on the game. Are you concerned about the laws or distribution or something else?
  • concerned about the laws, and just curious.
  • @Reyne

It really depends on your game, your target market and platform. So, currently, if you're into mobile, then you can sell for a premium cost on the App Store. You can't sell on Google Play. If you're releasing a free game, you could release on either.

On PC, you can look at greenlight to get on Steam or submit to GoG and Humble.

You'll set a price and a portion of income you generate will go to the store that hosts you. I think there's some other threads around here that talk about the details of having a company, types of companies, bank accounts and the like :)

  • Thanks guys for the info and sorry, I Could've been clearer.
  • Multi-platform, wondering if you kinda must pay some tax if selling online. Reason: someone in germany said something like: gotta pay tax to every eu country the game sells in online. So wondered how s-african tax laws compares.
  • That someone is talking about the EU VAT laws. It becomes an issue for you if you are selling from your own site, but if you sell through a platform (like Steam, App Store etc) they handle that for you. Technically there is 14% VAT levied on digital sales to South African consumers
