Looking for Level Designer/UI/3D Artist for collaboration.

Mods, I'm unsure if this is the correct category for an unpaid project, if it's not feel free to nudge this to the correct category and my apologies!

Hello there everyone, I've been developing an FPS in my spare time for a couple of years as a hobby project. It's old school style DOOM gameplay with five working weapons (might upgrade this to 9 depending on what responses I get from this post) and patrolling/chasing/attacking AI. The code is tight and the game is playing well (needs some gameplay additions here and there though). I've done all the functionality "in-house" from the ground up using Unity.

I've got the engine to a point where I'd like to start prepping it for a free release on the app store and google play. I'm looking for assistance from 2D and 3D artists to contribute a couple of UI screens/components and some customised ammo pickup models and weapon caches. Some gorey details would be nice too!

I'm also looking for a level designer to design around 5 fun, balanced levels for play.

I'd like to collaborate with any prospective South Africans who'd like to get their foot through the industry door and make some friends along the way. I'm an expatriate South African currently living in the UK who works for a AAA gaming company, so I can provide a good reference with the knowledge to back it up if need be. Since the app will be released on the google play/app store, it would be a great way to show off your skills to prospective employers.

If I find interested parties to bounce ideas off and collaborate with, I'd definitely be open to coding new enemy types and other additional features that are suggested.

If you're interested let me know here and I'll show you a demo of the game and give you access to the github repository as well as more information on future plans for this.

  • Hey, I am interested for this. Are you still looking for assistance?
  • Yes definitely, what areas do your interests lie in?
  • I'm interested, but I'm very hesitant to commit, given that I've got a full time game job and a couple of pretty big contract jobs coming in too. If it's a paid gig and you've got a demo for people to play, I could probably get some other folks at work who have a bit less on their plates to help out. (They're already in the game industry though, so I'd need to convince them to get eyeballs on this through either money or through value in working on something other their own personal projects outside of work.)
  • It would basically be a hobby project for all involved. It's more for people who'd like to beef up their existing portfolios or are looking for some work experience etc. Due to my own time constraints I doubt it will be come a monetary operation.
  • Okay, fair enough. :)
