Game Character Learning Experience
I have some free time now and im going to dedicate it to playing games, working on my skillz and getting more involved with you guys on the forum... Better late than never.
So I coded simple character movement(Run,Jump) and have placeholders setup.
Now im taking the next step and will modeling and animate that character.
Usually when I do something I try and make it as much of a learning experience as possible.
I want to take a look at making a character and making interchangeable clothing/armor that can be picked up in game.
For the character I made a base mesh in Max and will focus on getting the anatomy right.
Here is a snap of the base mesh ready for Zbrush sculpting.

I ask because the torso looks a bit short, but people do have different proportions and I'm not sure what you're going for.
Good luck!
This is a learning exercise for me. Something I can look back on later and see what I did wrong.
[adds body proportions to list]
I want to have it look as close to real as I can get it without obsessing to make it hyper realistic.
The character is only part of the bigger exercise so Im going to try and not spend too much time making it 100% perfect.
Thanks for the feedback!
Might aswell share the progress and get some feedback while im working on it.
Now its time for some games then im done for the night.
Feel free to feedback me!
With your arms out the way you've got them it's actually tricky to sculpt imo, because the acromion process gets rotated to the back, and that's a key landmark for placing the top of the deltoid. Anyway, the point is, you have a dent in the separation between the pecs and the shoulder that shouldn't be there (or rather, it's not that shape). I think your knee's quite nicely sculpted, but given the position/angle of your feet I think they're too far out.
Honestly im just grateful here is someone on here that can advise.
If you're really keen on getting better at the art-side of making games, I strongly recommend you post at Polycount. They're arguably the biggest game art community in the world, and you're likely to get much more art feedback there.
My Genius table stopped working recently due to it being a Genius, so I ordered a Wacom that should arrive this week hopefully.
It completely derailed my efforts. But I managed to get myself a project to help out on in the meanwhile.
