  • What's the legality on these? Don't some of the rights-holders still exist?
  • I honestly don't know re: legality - I can across the site through reading an article. I am assuming that the rights owners are aware, since the archive covers various media including photos, music and film and in the FAQ it mentions that rights have been granted for steaming/distribution, and they seem transparent about their activities.

There is also the 'report' feature, so if a contributor uploads something and does not have the rights then it gets taken down.

They also mention Steam and Good Old Games as purchase sites for old games.

I posted the link for nostalgic reasons, but if anyone feels that there is an ethical breach, please delete this post.
  • Pretty cool that they managed to get DosBox running in Javascript even though it cant go fullscreen so the mouse movement sucks. But I managed to play a few of my favourites!

  • I've trawled through Abandonware sites for the old Barone game from late nineties. Pretty sure it was a DOS game, and they advertised it on TV and in the media (baronegame.co.za or somesuch). It was basically a fighting sidescroller where you had to avoid obstacles and collect barones. Maybe user @JACLEMGO can contact his Nestle handler that he mentioned from freelance work to see if they still have a copy somewhere :)

  • found a discussion thread about the Barone game. Company was Bugbox Animation. Year was 2006. And they used the "Adventure Game Studio" so I suppose it wasn't DOS. My bad :)
