How to Make Music Like Rich Vreeland (Disasterpeace)

edited in General
So guys. Watched this awesome tutorial with Rich Vreeland on how he made music in Fez!

Really cool step by step that you can follow...I even made my own piece to go with the video :D https://soundcloud.com/crumpled_muppet/jump-ship-what-is-the-computer

It's a fun exercise to follow for any composers/producers out there :D

  • I hear him talking and I hear the music developing but I have NO idea what's happening on screen
  • A bit of experience with Massive will definitely help the understanding :D I pulled up the synth and just copied him. I guess for any music laypeople this might be a bit over your head...but still could be interesting :D :P
  • I'm not a lay person; I'm a completely ignorant slob. This is yours and @Gazza_N's bailiwick
  • Haha Fengol I'm sure you are far more than an ignorant slob :P :D This video is just very specific with the use of Massive so don't be too hard on yourself :P I'm just hoping some others will find it as useful as I did ! :D

Gnarly, thanks! Didn't have time to check the whole thing though..

I like just messing around in, and losing a few hours to, something like Harmor or z3ta. What he said at the start, about learning the ins and outs a single synth, really can do you wonders. I'd really like to spend more time on my music. :\
  • Yeah! Spending time with one synth is really good for helping you make something quicker. Or rather, not having to worry about the technical side and get into the creative process :D
