2D Game Development (in Unity)
Hello everyone. I'm Carl and I am a gr.12 student aspiring to become an indie developer.
Recently I have been tinkering with the Unity Engine. I'm following Brackey's 2D game tutorials.
I'ce Decided to start off with 2D because it seems easier to learn at first. The problem I am facing is that I don't really have
artistic or drawing skills. I want to ask if anyone has some advice or links for tutorials on how to draw pixel art.
I would also appreciate any tips you could give me on creating 2D games. I am really new to Unity and I haven't had much game development
skills. Any references or help will be appreciated. I do have 2 years of Java experience from IT in School but I'm also trying to learn C# since that will be the language I will be studying next year when I do computer Science at NMMU (PE) and also because you can use C# in unity for scripting. I am lurking because of exams but when I get some free time I like to do research and read about the Gaming- and Indie Development Industry.
P.S. It is so awesome to see this many developers in South Africa come together! I thought game dev in SA wasn't a thing but since I joined the forums I'm more inspired to learn more skills to enable me to maybe one day join a game studio or even start my own :)

I'm thinking of remaking it in Unity.

What are your thoughts?
Tutorials are always a good place to start, then, once you're feeling more comfortable with your tools, start remaking other games to test yourself. Tetris is a perennial favourite, mostly because it's a lot harder than it looks. After you can do that, start messing with your own game ideas. Every time something is too big to finish, scale down your next project until you start regularly finishing what you start.
Have fun!
Thank you dislekcia! Circles and squares it will be!

consider for now to not use animation and just static 2d sprites.
I challenge you to a contest:
U build Tetris, I build 3d shooter
Rules:
challenge only last for 12 hours.
No premaid engine should be used.
only pure language and its sdk/framework be used.
If one wins, the other one buy beer!
eh?
If you want to get a drink sometime, just say so ;)
Okay... Why were you saying that?
(I totally used to have this sweater, BTW)
