[WIP] Something Unnamed
Hey guys.
Quick little bit of background - My wife and I got married in 2013, and for our first anniversary I made her a little 10 page comic book about the first year of marriage. Now for our second anniversary I want to make her a game.
Something simple, a little 2D platformer thing. Since we had a Steampunk themed wedding, I would like to keep that as the theme of the game. Maybe add a dab of Lovecraft for good measure.
Now I am an iOS dev by trade, so I'd like to stick to what I know.
I have some questions / a need for suggestions:
1. Any thoughts on engines/frameworks for iOS? (I've sort of randomly decided to start learning Cocos2D-X, but I would appreciate some alternatives)
2. What do you guys (and girls) want in a 2D platformer / sidescroller type of game? What makes it fun?
I would really appreciate any suggestions or opinions, and I will keep updating this thread as I make progress.
Thanks!

And I'd love to see photos of your wedding! :P
(It may be underwhelming, as I'm from a VERY traditional afrikaans family, so the wife and I dressed down. But we did have some people who went whole hog :)
Also, thanks for the links. Much appreciated.
