Agnomen on Android

Hi MGSA,

Cheers for the meetup last night. It was good to meet you guys.

I promised we'd post up a few of our disposable projects, so here they are. These are developed in pretty much under a day; they're really unambitious, usually focusing on single game mechanic.

Fizzle:

Prevent the bubbles from reaching the top of the screen for as long as you can. Compete with your friends for better times.

Alien Academy:

Alien Academy is an arcade saucer-flying game of skill, timing, and dexterity.
Drag to give a burst of speed to your saucer.
Get as far as you can through the asteroid belt before your time runs out, but make sure you don't crash!

Cool! Glad you guys posted something :) Below are some of my random thoughts you can use/don't use, thinking about your games after last night.

Due to their simple nature I think it could be worthwhile spending some time learning how to Juice well. I am thinking particle effects, sound/music and camera shake (camera shake, camera shake, camera shake). This will take you less time to do than you think and will really make your games shine!
I know you mentioned you'd like to sell them, but the market for games like yours as they stand is super saturated. So maybe try jam out some wacky ideas to make them a little different! I know you probably made them as quick throw away games, but its a useful exercise in game design.

If you haven't already check this video out yet, this is what I mean when I say juice:

Also, as I said last night. Create a thread for Submerge! Get play-testers as early as you can, the less mechanics you have now, the less time you will waste later breaking mechanics to make it fun! (even if its based on mechanics known to be fun in other games)

    All the best :)

Edit: As a good example check out what the team at http://clockworkacorn.com/ are doing. They are putting up new game concepts at makegamessa on an almost weekly basis.
