Dodgy Doodle by Fungi Games
Hi Guys
I released my first project privately this weekend on Google Play Store called "Dodgy Doodle", and I would love your feedback. I plan on extending it to iOS and Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 in the near future too. I created it while working full time as a experiment project to learn some new technologies and tools :) I gave myself one month to complete the project to set myself a tight timeline.
The game can be found here on the Google Play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.FungiGames.DodgyDoodle
So let me give you some background. As I mentioned I have a full time job, so in other words limited time for extra projects. I started the project by jotting down a few key points to keep reminding me why I was doing this to keep me on the straight and narrow, and here is a exact copy of notes I made on the 9th April 2014.
Mandate
• Release game in a months time. (I ran slightly over here by a few days)
• Game must be simple to insure release date.
What do I was to achieve
• Build game based around 1 core functionality.
• Feature must translate well over multiple platforms and user input types.
• Learn new marketplaces (be it Andoird, WP8, iOS, Windows 8 )
• Easily sharable with Google+ and Facebook login support.
• Simple scoreboard system to promote self-competition.
• Simple achievement system to promote self-competition.
• Built in advertising.
• Build in analytics.
Game characteristics
• Very hard, needs to be frustrating but addictive.
• Based around repeat play.
• Art is not your strength, find a way to use this to your advantage.
• Simple sound.
• Must work on multiple screen resolutions and aspect ratio’s.
It is now 1 month and 1 week later and I have a game released in the Google Play store. Released on the 17th May 2014.
This is what I achieved.
• Vertical dodgem style game with a VERY steep learning curve. This makes it challenging but addictive.
• Did all my own artwork, hand drawn as much as I can to give the game a simple quirky feel (as you can tell I am no artist).
• Control support for touch devices, PC, Mac. (Even though only Android version is out currently)
• Supports all popular aspect ratios.
• Integrated Google Play services including Leaderboards and Achievements.
• Full integrated Google Analytics.
• Built in Advertising (admob).
• The game has only been live for a 1 day but I am already some good some downloads and positive review. I have also released 2 updates since deployment from peoples feedback.
Here are some more images.
A link to a youtube video can be found here:

And once again the game can be found here on the Google Play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.FungiGames.DodgyDoodle
Please let me know your thoughts and any feedback would be great! I had so much fun doing this and I cannot wait to do my next one. If you download the game please rate it with any constructive feedback as I will be updating the game periodically.
Regards
Ross

I played it on a friend's phone (don't own a smartphone :-( ), not for too long but I got the hang of it and the flappy bird (be frustrating but addictive). Found myself playing it over and over again. Just to try beat the score. It was pretty hard though.
Just the one thing I wanted to mention - Dodgy Doodle... Dodgy... Dodgy sounds, well, dodgy. Doodle Dodge would have dodged that issue completely, if you want to consider it :)
Good work! :)
@Tuism - this was actually intentional as odd as this might sound :) My other option for a name was "Sketchy" which which also sounds... well dodgy :) I like not taking things too seriously and I thought I would use it as a play on words as the artwork is "dodgy" as well as it being a dodgem style game.
