Photoshop's SaaS licencing

edited in Questions and Answers
Who's bought the latest version of Photoshop recently? What do you think of the costings and do you have be always connected to the Internet to use PS?

I'm interested in buying Photoshop (because Paint.NET doesn't have some features I need) but I see they've moved to a SaaS (Software as a Service) model.

I'm keen to know who's using this version of Photoshop

  • Havent used it myself yet but do know others who have. It's not always online. You simply need to log onto the system at the end of the month to either renew or carry on with the subscription. Other wise it's pretty much the same, download and install on your pc.
  • We've adopted it in our company for all of our Photoshop licenses. It works out a lot cheaper in the long run ($49/month) and has been completely hassle free for us so far - except that you have to download it for each user as the installer is bundled and handled by the CC app. It's even cheaper for individuals ($19/month), but there's also a great Photsoshop/Lightroom combo special on at the moment that's even better - only $10 per month. Even if you don't use Lightroom, you still score. https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom?store_code=za&locale=en

I would rather get the $30/month single-app plan because it's month-to-month (not being an artist myself) and can be cancelled at any time; where the $10/month PS and Lightroom special is a 12 month contract. However that special sounds great if I had PS open every day.
  • I just noticed their 30-day free trial. Going to give it a bash!
  • I also like the dual install/OS agnostic approach. You can install it on two machines at a time in ay combination of Mac or Windows. You would previously have had to buy a separate license for each OS.
