Co-operative coding day

edited in Questions and Answers
Would you attend a day, where you could bring your computer to a venue and work on whatever it is you're working on?

No theme, no jam, no competition; just the opportunity to sit amongst like minded people and do some game dev?

Halfway through we break for lunch for before continuing on again.

While people can play games, share anime, whatever; the focus would be on coding, drawing, making tunes.

  • I'm in. Just to see the tools the other devs use, their methods of their work etc.
  • Interesting idea. I might be in.
  • @Fengol, my initial thought is that this would be awesome.

My not so initial thought is that without the focus of a jam or theme this would probably end up more like a social. I think people would hang around and chat more than actually build stuff. Which is still awesome, just not what you have in mind(maybe?).
  • And obviously sit down and work also :P
  • Sounds like a great idea!

I think making stuff, jamming or not, is like gymming. Without someone to do it with you get too easily distracted. That's how offices do work... Besides of course the obvious salary thing.

So having people do stuff together is great idea!

Also of course cross-pollinating abilities and insights. That's awesome :)
  • @Rigormortis I would suspect it would be self-regulating. A bit of fun here and there is awesome and then it's back to the grindstone. Attendees can ask fools to leave.
  • It would be a great way to get feedback on what you're doing as well as learning new stuff or getting help on anything you may be struggling with.
  • If I have the time free I would be keen.
  • I'd be keen. I would really like to see where I where I can help on existing projects.
  • I'd really like this idea - It's sometimes easier to focus on side projects when you're not working all alone in a house listening to the outside world continue...
  • Sounds great, if I can attend I will :)
  • I'd be up for that
