Windows 8 desktop game application

edited in General
We have a UK client that is keen on commissioning the development of a tiny game to run on a windows 8 desktop.

The app will make use of a very new SDK which will give it certain functionality.

There does not seem to be a lot of companies in SA available to work on this.

Could you guys point me in the right direction or even those that have the skill stick your hand up and lets get something together.

  • Do you share an idea of the size of budget for the game and some high-level details about the type of game that needs to be made? That would help us point you towards companies or people who are available.

  • What SDK? Are you talking something like Leap Motion?
  • Xna/monogame will do that. Or you can convert old xna game to windows 8, windows phone 8 in minutes, or if you are lazy you can just use html5 canvas and phonegap to convert to any platform

I was asking which SDK @andrewc was talking about that would provide certain functionality, not which codebase to build stuff in ;)
  • I think he was talking about windows phone SDK which includes xna and new windows marketing tools with social features... But it just takes several minutes to plug this new features into an old xna game
  • I don't know how you get that:

That's why I was asking. There are any number of potential new things it could be, it's probably something none of us have ever heard of like a custom physical hardware control SDK. Which is why I'm curious, maybe there are interesting design constraints.
  • Private message him, and he will send you information about it.

@SkinnyBoy thats not what they are wanting to do.
  • I believe @tbulford over at celestial games has windows experience? Also Matt over at http://roguecode.co.za/ has mad win dev skills but is fairly new to game dev.

There are also a bunch of guys from Durban doing win phone dev, but I can't remember who they are.
  • I can code with DirectX and xna with my eyes closed
