[Job] iOS App Developer Job

edited in Jobs
Looking for someone to help with a few game ideas that I've come up with. Majority of the graphics and artwork for the games are done, but the actual coding and build of the app is beyond what I am personally capable of. The apps i have in mind are 2D, some similar to a "metal slug" sort of game play and flow, the others sort of a "shooting gallery" sort of game with a twist;)

I'm wanting to get these done ASAP, and would be willing to negotiate on a split of the percentage of profits earned on the app (i.e. the better job you do, the more profit you make). Basically I'm looking for a Technical Manager for all the ideas I have:)

To all applying:
1. The apps I.P. is all run through the company I have.
2. Need some sort of experience and background in app development and Objective-C to apply.
3. I will require a CV before acceptance (email details to follow).
4. HODOR! :D

Welcome. Please take a moment to read the section, right near the top: "I have a great game idea! How do I get it made?"

Appreciate that completely:) And I did manage to skim over that before my initial post .

The thing is, this idea is already in development. I have done the majority of the graphics and art required for the games as well as mapping out and planning the architecture associated with what I want. As development is not my focus and I do this for enjoyment I have hit a few walls that I can't get through. Thought I would post an offer here for a like minded person who was keen on being creative and at the time wanting to see their work come to life to get involved (plus, as I am relatively new, would be awesome to learn a bit from someone a little more experienced).

A chance at creativity is what my offer was, and by the odd chance this ever makes it something of itself, a bit of a bonus for helping out the little guy in the room:)
  • @NickvR: Why aren't you posting your graphics and maybe even animatics of what you want it work like? You've got to grab people by the excitement, especially if you're not offering to pay for their skills. The best way to do that is show off what you've got, talk about your game concept, really engage with it.

I know it's not fair on you, but you're dealing with a historical trend that's colouring how your project is viewed: People that post saying they have a great idea and then don't go on to show what they've been working on never actually release a game. You've got to not look like those people :)
  • @dislekcia: Good idea:) I think I'll mock up a scene or 2 from the graphics et. al. I've created to show that I'm not just messing around and will post them here sometime today or tomorrow! Lets hope something comes of it;)
  • Have a look at the first concept. This is a "metal slug" sort of game. @D, in the air, with the same "weapon selection" system as plants vs zombies, with the option to purchase extra ammo of a particular type of weapon through in app purchasing. The screen shown is of the "paid" version, i.e. no ads, but with the free version there would be an iAd strip at the top of the page. Not going to go in depth with how I imagine the game play would work, but there are multiple different types of enemies, weapons and a few other features as well as a few different game modes (arcade, campaign, etc).

Don't know what else to say here, other than I've mapped out the entire architecture of this game concept as well as doing pretty much all the art and graphics, just looking for someone to help out in making it work:)

P.S. Apologies for the watermarking, can never be too careful!:)

  • Up to now, have you been trying to code the app directly in Objective-C? If so, it's not surprising you've hit a few walls.

In case you don't find anyone to program your game for you, rather try learning how to use a pre-built engine like Unity. It's a billion times easier than programming your own engine from scratch in Objective-C, especially if you don't come from a coding background, and the free version can export to iOS (although you will need an Apple developer account afaik).

If even Unity involves too much coding for you, you can fork out a bit of cash for GameMaker:Studio, which is even simpler to use. You'll need to pay quite a bit for a license that lets you export to iOS, but you can start off playing around with the free version to see if you like it.

The added advantage of using one of those pre-built engines is that its easy to release your game on other platforms like Android, Blackberry and Windows Phones if it does well on iOS.
