Any writing jobs?

edited in Questions and Answers
As a writer and creative, I yearn to be a part of a team who view themselves as immensely ambitious individuals, individuals working together to create a game which feels alive and has a pulse. I want to bring people together by sharing “on the edge of your seat experiences”, experiences which they will remember, experiences which will leave them hungry and wanting to come back for more.

These experiences can commence through well designed game and narrative-driven mechanics. By combining these mechanics, a connection can be formed between the game and the gamer. I want the player to have a connection with the game, the narrative, the world and the character he/she embodies. I will be able to accomplish that by helping to sculpt the characters, their arcs, and the surroundings they occupy.

The fact that I have studied film, which is a visual and intellectual driven medium, resulted in me becoming experienced in storytelling and crafting the unimaginable to become imaginable.

If you want to get into contact with me, pm me, or send me an email at: juaburg@gmail.com

Kind Regards,
Juan Burger

  • Hey! Are you in Joburg? Please come to Global Game Jam this weekend if you are. (Or the CT one if you're down there.) I'm super keen to work with a writer this weekend. :)

    Hey, welcome to the forums...

I hope you get some PMs from game devs equally hungry to craft compelling narratives.

Though I think it is pretty tough to get a foot hold as a writer in a smallish scene (like the South African game development scene).

I'd suggest building up a bit of a portfolio of writing that you can show game devs to get them excited about working with you. Participating in game jams is a great idea. Also maybe try out a tool like TWINE and write some interactive fiction. http://twinery.org/

Most developers dream of writing their own stories, but that doesn't mean they should be doing it themselves.
