Just thought I'd put this here for people to see. It's a small prototype of the lighting effects I would like to use in my game.
Just thought I could get some feedback and perhaps thoughts on if you think this effect is over saturated in games now days?

I don't think it's too over used, though? I've only really seen it in Monaco:
It's also really important what style of game you're using the effect for too - I find it's too overwhelming in Monaco.
Is is also a stealth game?
What you develop that demo in out of interest?
I haven't played Monaco (looks really pretty though :O) but I think the only place I've seen 2D lighting that isn't just for prettyfication is in Stealth Bastard.
I'm a fan of games that use that kind of lighting/line of sight for some functional purpose (and even when there isn't a purpose...I guess lighting just looks pretty in general) so I'd be interested to see this game you're working on.

What you can do:
Run around shooting enemies (that do nothing except disappear after 4 hits).
