I've just got confirmation from Dave at Microsoft about the community nights for December and January

  • 25 December CT - No
  • 14 January JHB - No
  • 29 January CT - Yes
  • 11 February JHB - Yes

  • @Bensonance - Can we get a Jan thread for CPT going? And a FB event ;)
  • CT had better be full of post-jam games, littering every surface, controllers everywhere, chaos, madness, FUN!

    ... Or else.

  • Do we need to book a spot or just pitch up?
  • So the next Joburg meet is only 11 Feb? Excluding the Game Jam of course :)

Definitely gonna do GGJ, but won't be there from late Saturday afternoon till Sunday morning cause I am going to see Lamb of God. Got my ticket October last year already.
  • @iPixelPierre, no booking...just pitch up. Now you better pitch up. :P

Of course! Wish it was sooner tbh.
  • Well, you could also get some pre-meetup action going by joining the Global Game Jam. I'm guessing a lot of the same faces will be there. :) It's not a lot sooner, but you can ALSO make a game, which you can the play at the meetup. So it's a win-win-win situation.
  • I wouldn’t mind checking it but I won't be able to make a game myself in 2 days.
  • @iPixelPierre

Well you should just come make one with someone else then :). We'll have lots of people to team up with!

Even if you don't end up making a game - make sure to drop by and check out the mad panic of a game jam :).
  • @iPixelPierre, if you come I guarantee you'll be able to make a game in 2 days. If you're afraid that you won't be fast enough with tech then just go primal. Board and card games don't have a tech barrier so you can do one of those if you want.

In the end it really comes down to scope. So you (probably) won't make the next Call of Duty, but you can most certainly make a game. :)

What he said! Also, what @Bensonance said: There's always teams to join and things that need doing. Heck, even just being around and playtesting is always a great help :)
  • Shweet, I'll register when I get home tonight.
