Online Course - Foundations of Computer Graphics
https://www.edx.org/course/uc-berkeley/cs-184-1x/foundations-computer-graphics/1003
It's based on a Computer Graphics course taught at the University of California, Berkeley, which is ranked in the top 10 universities worldwide. It's free, and you get a cool certificate if you complete it. Of course, it is far easier to use engines like Unity, where someone else has taken the time to do all the hard work for you, but for those of you wanting to understand the details of what's going on behind the scenes, then this course may be interesting. It runs from today (7 October) until 18 November, and there are 4 deadlines along the way.
You can also sign up to watch some of the lectures without having to submit any of the assignments.
You do need to know some maths, which basically just vector and matrix operations. The first couple of lectures give a pretty thorough summary though.
You also need some experience programming in C++ or a similar language, but if you can pick up languages quickly, you should be OK.
I've already completed a couple courses on edX, and this is the next one on my list. Anyone else interested?
I must warn you though, they do take up quite a bit of time. The course page says 12 hours a week, but in similar courses, I've found that I can get by on roughly half of that, which equates to a little more than one evening a week watching lectures and doing assignments.
