Programmer Art - An Artists Perspective

edited in General
Many programmers bemoan their supposed lack of artistic prowess or the lack of access to a good artist. I wish to share some examples of simple(ish) programmer art that I find not only effective, but quite aesthetically pleasing. The Japanese developer Kenta-Cho (ABA Games) sits foremost in my mind as a great example of simple, effective and stylish programmer art. Simple shapes, basic lighting effects and a coordinated, simple color palette can transmute primitive graphics into delicious eye-candy. Observe the following examples (all ABA Games) and note the primitive shapes of the objects and the color schemes, none of which require a professional artist.

Decent color schemes can be achieved with the following online app http://colorschemedesigner.com/.

Check out the ABA site.
