[SA Game Jam 2016] Clean World

CLEAN WORLD
- SA Game Jam 2016

- 48hr entry

Team:
Just my lone self :D

I'm creating a open world sandbox game.
The player will start in a world that is completely clean and white.
It's up to him to decorate and bring color to the world.
The player will be able to place and arrange a variety of objects on this small planet in any way he likes and change their color to fit his needs.

NOTE: Play with headphones and put your sound loud.

    Updated the original message with a Google Drive link.
    First build, still lots more to do.

    Please read the "Read Me.rtf" file before running the game. [No Tutorial yet]
  • I specifically like the spherical world :D can't wait to see this :)

  • New version has been uploaded.
    There are some control changes, so please read the "Read Me.rtf"
  • This has that Minecraft feel, but with a finite world :)

    The day night cycles are a nice touch, and the moon gave a really good sense of scale to the world. I would love to play around on a world like this.

    Consider making the world smaller though, like a quarter or an eighth of the size. Just seems as though it would feel more cosy that way :) Have things nice and close to you.
  • @pieter, Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.
    I'll consider making it smaller, maybe making the moon and planet the same size.
    I'm working on giving the player the option to build his way to the moon. :P
  • Version 0.03 has been uploaded.
    Lots of extra game mechanics has been added.
    Read the "Read Me.rtf" file in the zip folder for more info.

    Link above updated.
  • This is coming along nicely :)

    Looking forward to playing this! It sounds like a lovely space to play in.

    I don't know if you're doing this already, but it seems like having the world also sound more colourful as you progress would be great. (Maybe you could team up with a sound designer post jam?)

  • I'm actually working on that right now.

    The idea is that each color represents a element.

    Green = Forest
    Blue = Ocean
    Yellow = ??
    Red = ??
    White = ???

    Still working on ideas towards them.
    Was thinking the more of a specific color you use the louder the corresponding sound gets.

    Final version for my Jam entry has been uploaded.

    Hope you guys enjoy it.

    Please read the Updated "Read Me.rft" file.
    Let me know if anyone manages to reach the moon. :D

    My audio volume is super low.
    I was using very sensitive headphones when I made this.

    Please use headphones when playing.

    Will increase the volume tonight and post a second link as a 'post jam' submission.

    Uploaded a Post Game Jam build V0.05 with the audio set higher.
    Also implemented skyboxes for the planet and the moon. (Still working on it)

    Known bugs:
    - Getting stuck between the gravity of the moon and the planet.
    - Can't jump when on the moon or planet sometimes: a quick fix is to try and jump while touching a spawned object
    - Some sounds are still very soft and some a bit too loud
    - When entering the gravity of another moon/planet you can sometimes end up orbiting the moon/planet due to weird physics: a quick fix if this happens to you, try and move against the directing you're orbiting and if your character collides with the moon/planet try to jump.

    Fixes:
    - Press Esc to quit the game
    - Audio fixes
    - Control fixes
