Tuism;14720" said:Are we still holding on the latest round of changes to update? :) No I'll be sending those to Fengol shortly.

WelshPixie;14703" said:I especially want an indiscriminate 'mark all read' button. I tend to read threads I'm interested in then open-and-close all the others on the front page just so that the notifications go away. Yup, thats pretty much what I wo…

The front page is going to need a completely new design - it's not even stylable at the moment - and I should be working on my competition entry :P
-
Sorry, I'm not using the proper terms here - it removes only the "1 New" thing next to each discussion on the discussions page - not the notifications in your inbox or your notifications area.
-
There is actually a mark all read button that Fengol can enable, but its indiscriminate, removing all new notifications. For the latest on the restyle, have a look at the other thread, ive made red notifications.
-
Okay have a look at it now - I've moved the modified by info to the right. The rest stays below the post. http://nitrogenlab.com/files/makegamessa/discussions.html It really is a lot of information to have for each discussion and the titles are co…

Better? http://nitrogenlab.com/files/makegamessa/discussions.html http://nitrogenlab.com/files/makegamessa/thread.html I cant control the order of the additional info under each post without asking Fengol to modify the html - but it's a start. I m…

The notification popup thing is designed for when you stay on one page for a long time without refreshing. The inbox bubble only happens when you refresh. So that was the logic behind it, but they didnt make the two systems work in sync with each …

There is no pleasing the Tu. :P But yeah the more I poke around Vanilla, the more it doesnt seem mature enough solution for a large forum yet... I think it should be sufficient for our uses for the next long while though.

Bfxr appears to be the "industry standard" sound effect maker when it comes to indie games. I must say, freesound.org is freaking awesome! It's got a huge community of people doing almost any sounds imaginable. Picked up some very cool scary sound…

dislekcia;14562" said: Lol, I'd never have thought there were too many elements there, given how much space there actually is left over ;P Yeah it's because the clever Vanilla theming people put a right margin of 280px on it :P
-
Ah okay there's too many links / words on your top nav bar, so it's wrapping. I'll adjust the search box size and margins there.
-
dislekcia;14548" said: Yeah, I noticed that too. The regular font also got a bit smaller so posts are harder to read - what's with that? At least writing posts have the same size text ;) I'm also still getting blue links in posts and the header sh…

Hmm, I see now that posting a lot of short replies does make the page rediculously long... @Tuism - your idea has merit, but I love how the current white boxes are like a large content area that's been sliced up. I'll have a think about it and see …
-
What you guys think - too harsh?
-
Cool, I'll change them back - I just dont have a chance to catch up with *everything* on the front page, so there ends up being a lot of "new" tags everywhere for me.
-
LexAquillia;14522" said:@RickyGC the notification are there, they are just in a super pale yellow, which I'm finding difficult to spot. My only request is that this notification be changed to a more prominent colour, at the moment it is really diffi…

@Tuism and others: Check out how Discourse does it: http://try.discourse.org/t/most-important-sci-fi-movie-of-the-2000-s/27 I was going to do it like they did with the avatars on the side, but when you take the avatars out of the main flow of tex…

RickyGC;14516" said:Looking great guys! My notification of new posts in a discussion isn't coming up. Am I doing it wrong? You have to have started the discussion yourself, or bookmarked it with the star first?

D3zmodos;14509" said:Does anybody else think that the rows for each thread on the discussions page are really tall? Compared to how it used to be you can see very few threads on a single screen =/ (or am I the only person bothered by this?) They are…

FanieG;14505" said:@Nitrogen - 1st cool new profile pick. 2nd why not mix it up with Unity's terrain editor and square corridors. Just realised I should have done that. I only have 1 flat area...Mmmm Shot! Hmm, that's an interesting idea - under…

Ah, had to clear my cache completely, but the favicon looks good now! There are still a few bugs in the design here and there, I'll probably send @Fengol an update in a day or two.
-
Most of my time now is spent trying to model some decent 3D environments. Once again I cant just let it go and make square corridors everywhere. In fact, I think I'm going to stop trying to model rooms with optimised display meshes and simplified …
-
@TheFuntastic, I've already addressed that in my redesign, here's what the notification page looks like: http://nitrogenlab.com/files/makegamessa/profile.html @Fengol, sending you the files now.
-
Okay, I looked up pastel colour schemes: http://www.colorschemer.com/schemes/index.php?sort=downloads&tag=pastel And mixed and matched until I found something I actually like very much. http://www.nitrogenlab.com/files/makegamessa/discussions…
-
@Fengol, I just modified custom.css, the mobile custom.css and body_bg.png - thats it, so you can pretty much just overwrite those three files, plus the favicon and bob's your uncle. Okay I'll try one last time with saturated colours.
-
Tuism;14448" said:Any word on the fav icon? That should be a quick easy insertion :) @Fengol I think the easiest is to just overwrite the /themes/fluid/design/favicon.png file inside the Fluid theme. @Tuism could you supply it as a .png? This Quot…

RickyGC;14441" said:I really think this place is pretty epic, but nothing shows-off the games. Can't we have a broforce, bearchuck etc character brawl in the top header. Thats what the front page is designed for.
-
@Fengol, I was going to wait until we'd fought it out over the colours before handing over the theme. Do you not want to get a consensus for those first?
-
I'm also for the 12 hour clock, but adding a dash would probably sort it. It's a pitty Vanilla doesnt support configuring these small things on a per-user basis. Your blocks of shade are borderline invisible on my screen - can hardly tell they are …
-
@Fengol, could you put back the 12 hour times? It's quite difficult to read now that it's "10:10 10 Oct" wihthout the am / pm to break up the digits...
-
Okay I've updated it now. I'm not sure of how desaturated it looks, so I made another option with more bolder pastels which I quite like: http://www.nitrogenlab.com/files/makegamessa/discussions-colors1.html http://www.nitrogenlab.com/files/makega…
-
Ah I missed that one - okay I'll give it a try. What I've done now is made all the category label text colours dark - instead of the white they are now, so that we can do more pastel stuff without the text disappearing.
-
Duly noted, oh omnificent illuminati.
-
I picked the colours right off @Tuism's mockup screen, but I'll see what I can do to make them less 'weird' :P And why doesnt this faceless committee publicly voice their opinions here?

Fengol;14380" said:
Did you look at the Quotes plugin? I think the plug-in is working now Edit: Or maybe not Edit Again: Some editing goes a long way
Kick asss!

Alrighty, yeah I need to get rolling on mine too.
-
Doh! Showing my lack of Linux knowledge right there :P How about something like '%l:%M%p %b %e'? which should be something like "9:31pm 12 Oct " Did you look at the Quotes plugin?
-
@Fengol, Agreed, that was just the "kitchen-sink" date format, we can definitely prune it down a bit, but I've yet to find documentation on their obscure formatting options.
-
The thread page doesnt have category colours on the sidebar yet because I copied the HTML from this forum page - Did you modify the category renderer like I posted above? I made a few modifications to the discussions renderer, which just shows a mo…

Fixed. Now Shhhhhh ;)

Okay have a look now at the thread page. If those links dont jump out at you, then something is very wrong with you :P
-
Okay it's late, and I'm done styling. Damnit! Hang on while I try that.
-
@Tuism: 1. The main list of discussions is pretty busy now, but I dont really want to modify the category names because that means asking Fengol to dig into the php. I'd rather see how much we can do with pure CSS. Plus if we make them 3 letters lo…

Lol, glad you sorted it out! Great, so basically ignore everything you said XD

@Tuism, That is so weird - half of the styles are not coming through on your browser. What browser are you using? This is what it should look like: (Windows 7 Firefox 24.0)
-
@Tuism: 1. Separations now larger, is that better? 2. I cant see anything covering the gradient on the thread page - the top of the content block has no background colour? 3. The Main discussion font is black with blue links: Like this?. They seem…
