@bsfts Thanks! :D It was quite zen-like :) Unfortunately I don't see an option for SA shipping, I'm getting mine sent to my girlfriend in Aus... Long way around. And their preview made the print TINY. Damn I hope they don't screw up the print. Arrr…

And budget. Client work = marketing = budget, and budget = time. And typically there's no budget or time. I don't know how you pulled that off @dislekcia.
-
Yeah the stun time will be longer for people who're new and getting used to the controls and the game. I'll need to collect more data to see how people feel about it - though I think a difficulty curve with multiple levels from easier to harder (AI …
-
@dislekcia Are CT videos getting updated? I missed all the friday amaze talks and REALLY RELALY would like to see them!
-
That's pretty cool, we could all set up stuff so it turns into some kind of arcade :) Bear Chuck will represent :)
-
VERY interested to see what they actually mean by haptic feedback, if it's simply VERY variable rumble... Or even positionally variable rumble, well, let's see what it actually does :P And the clickable thing, Blackberry Storm tried it and it was t…

TWEWY was SUCH a good fun game, and very well designed - in a very typical fashion after Japanese games :) Well, the principles are typically Japanese, but a lot of it were presented in different ways, and definitely remixed in a very different way.…
-
Whaaaaaaaat!?!? Imma investigate that quickly... Oh dang...
-
Should be the same as all their other ones - $10 plus shipping. They also have other products that they print on which is quite interesting, stuff like iPhone cases, Hoodies, iPad skins, laptop skins... I might pick something up other than a tee fo…

YAY! Love your step-by-step, it's almost like getting to watch you play, which is exactly what I need! :D I see the first menu needs a bit of communication... Maybe the iconised pixel things are too difficult to recognise on first sight, or I need …

Well technically it has to do with the "anchor point" of the sprite - it shouldn't matter how big the image is, as long as your anchor point is the same it shouldn't matter. If I remember correctly, Flash allows you to change the anchor point.

Whoa, dual touchpads???! The one biggest complaint about mobile gaming are the touch controls, kudos for them for taking the plunge... Though of course they've added: 1. Locked in position (cos a touchscreen doesn't lock your thumb to the same orig…

Is that the Nunnery as we've always gone to for wits game things?
-
Twister. But seriously though, I think that anything that makes people uncomfortable is disruptive, and disruptive is good for everyone - though it doesn't necessarily convert to commercial success.
-
If I had 5 clicks, I'd spend them all to run R&D. If anyone got that please just put me out of my anticipatory misery and say that you got it, thanks :P
-
YES. Always keen to try new things :)
-
System Crash, not shock :p And yes for Bear Chuck! I'll be happy to answer questions or ask you questions :)
-
OK fine Panarottis then :P Katamari destination set :)
-
Let's confirm this some, Spur, after rAge, we'll Katamari :)

That video @blackships shared about creativity with John Cleese speaks about allowing yourself the time and the space to be creative. And I know from experience that the best creative work we do in advertising are often only ever done after heaps of…

Have you played it have you played it h e you played it? :p Though it looks polished, it was super rushed (cos I wanted to avoid the last minute deadly rush that always happened before the *actual* deadline which is rage in this case). I expect th…

(he already has a level builder! :P)

I love the mechanic! The video tells the story so well :) Has a Thomas was Alone feeling to it. I'm really no good with designing puzzle levels but I can appreciate it :P I somehow feel like a two-player component could work with this, but that's …

I made a bunch of horrible stuff in Klik&Play OMG Klik&Play, I remember that. Maxis made that... Hahaha :) There was also a thing in the old Amiga days called SEUCK... Shoot Em Up Construction Kit. I never did get it but read every single co…

@Tuism No, you can't have it! It's ours! OURS, I SAY! MWAHAHAHAAHAH! *runs off giggling* This is a job for...!!!

Wrote a post with videos and links to everyone's games going to rAge 2013! :D http://www.thesteventu.com/rage-2013-15-made-in-sa-games-showing/
-
Sounds like this new plan is awesome from all the feedback, we should look into adopting it for Jozi :) Though I expect this month's meetup to be another non-regular meetup cos of rAge just a few days preceding :)

Do you immediately lose if your side fills up? What does score have to do with anything? There's like a second of respite before you lose, but yea filling up = lose. That's why there's a big danger sign when a side is about to fill up! The score is…

I could hardly BEAR to wait to give you this bear-sized update!!! :D A new gameplay video! The *official* Bear Chuck page! http://www.tuism.com/bearchuck Playable build! With GOOD AI! Download Bear Chuck Windows Playable build RIGHT NOW 2…

And it's leading up to rAge! Lots of work to be done!

If you're keen to get feedback, the most effective way of kicking it off are: 1. Gameplay video (I use OBS to capture footage, then use iPad's iMovie to edit/do voiceover) 2. Screenshots! 3. Specific questions to ask (you have a good start there, a…
-
yeah, cos if you make the polish upfront a lot may change and you waste a lot of time. I see you got it already :) So yeah let people play your mechanically focussed prototypes, you'll get much better feedback than "ooh nice images"... Cos that's al…

Suggestion time! It's pretty and polished, but rather start with some kind of mechanical experiment than a pretty tutorial, you know? :)
-
SteamBox Ahoy! Edit: Oh that WAS a surprise :) http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/ So the SteamMachine concept is still in prototype, and they're going to make multiple configurations. Which is, in essence, a bit like an amalga…

Dude! Game Jams are from the heart! :D I'd love to join if I didn't have an engagement party and other kaka to do this weekend. Last year's indie speed run was painful but definitely wouldn't have given it up for anything in the world :) Enjoy it m…

Tumblr sounds like a great plan!

Nice looking prototype, I can appreciate starting a prototype from creating screenshots, but generally I say start with blocks and blobs and start exploring mechanics first! Though today I read a cool article about Guacamelee, about how they starte…

Awesome work! :D

Never the same again...
-
I'm working on a post, will share when it's done :)
-
Most upstanding, good sir! :D
-
Hey I think we should be sharing our rAge presence on social media more, perhaps with a post or something to highlight that we'll be having FIFTEEN games MADE BY SOUTH AFRICANS that YOU CAN PLAY!! A collection of screenshots would be a great place …

Four Shades of Wang.

I think it must be a conjunction of something else with the uncluttered App Store. Like that it migrates Facebook game players into the mobile environment and is good quality among a few contestants in the app store, which could be the confluence of…

So I'm obviously not understanding this, where do you copy pasta this code into to make it do that?
-
But we're worried about the art style right now, not story telling delivery. I see what you mean, and thought it was the style that was gonna get in the way of storytelling because it'll be too much work? The flamethrower Baracus I mentioned earlie…

WHAT IS THIS VOODOO MAGIC. Isn't it stuff like this that makes people say building their own engines are cool? :P
-
What if the cutscenes were handled more with in-game stuff with, say, speechbubbles, different backgrounds, props, dialogue, etc? I think there's value in interspersing in-game cutscene stuff with as little focused yet short animations as possible. …

It's not just CT, Joburg could do with that too :) I was just chatting with an artist friend, and she was keen to make game/art collaborations. Now I'm aware of the "everyone and their dog thinks making a game is easy and everyone thinks they can h…
