Story Line help!
Hi guys and girls,
I am a beginner to intermediate indie game dev hobbyist.I am working on a project called Harena Turbine, its an open world desert roaming game but I have no flair for story lines at all :/ usually when all my projects end up in the graveyard is because I have no continuation to follow.
So what I have so far is a desert with limited visibility due to a sand storm, a mini map with waypoints, and some awesome background music. and of course the unity fps controller. I have a few models in it already like a ruined temple and a lion statue. but assets are not an issue those I can make. lets brainstorm a bit and try get a cool storyline and progression that I can follow and maybe we can release something akin to journey maybe? I have no plan to sell the game etc but just to release something proudly south african.
Any help however small is appreciated. also messge me if you would like to collab
Sweet :)

A useful brainstorming technique could involve not necessarily trying to create an overarching narrative, but rather devise small stories for the elements that exist in your game. If you can tie them together after thinking of these stories, you'll have a skeleton for your experience. Shave off/replace weaker ministories that impede this unison, push more detail into the aspects which are stronger.
From this skeleton, after the first level of revision, you can try to identify recurring themes of narrative in the stories you've made. This should tend to be around the subjects you find most important or interesting, so it shouldn't be tooooo hard. Try to look for anchors that evoke strong emotions -- where stories consist of tragedy, joy, hope, failure. The feelings will resonate with players more than the particulars, and you'd have an experience that nudges closer to what I imagine you'd be trying to achieve with a Journey-like.
Otherwise, I think the matter of story will be between you and whoever else works on it full-time. I'm not sure that specifics can be offered by people cruising past this thread. ;)
