something postive

edited in General
I have stayed out of the recent fray re: the animosity on this forum, but I figured I would mention the positive experiences I have had here.

1) This forum has helped me find staff
2) This forum has helped me get work
3) This forum has introduced me a lot of really interesting and passionate people
4) This forum has made me think critically about a whole host of issues that has ultimately led me to make better choices in my game development
5) I have never felt threatened here at all. If someone has a different opinion to me, I just leave it at that.

I have and will continue to comment + give feedback whenever I can on relevant things, in a positive manner (note positive feedback can also be critical), and I will endevour not be goaded into bad arguments with people :)

I am sure a lot of other people have had a lot of positive experiences here, and I just felt this needed to be said.

  • Just to mention a couple of my positives:

I have been involved in Game.Dev, SAGameDev and Make Games SA. During that time I have interacted with many of the same people, and to some extent I see MGSA as a continuation of the same community.

    1) This community has allowed me to practice my game design, and through the focus on useful critique has enabled me to learn countless valuable lessons. These lessons have directly resulted in much of the success of Broforce.

    2) This community has shared with me a wealth of information about developing games, both in the elements and values from which good games are constructed and in the qualities of the processes that enable constructing the best games.

    3) This community has put me in contact with many skilled and passionate developers, a couple of which I work with today.

    4) This community has put me in contact with many people I now call friend in real life (and online).

My journey into game development began before MGSA started. In fact Broforce began a few months before MGSA started.

But I'd hope that in MGSA I can help foster a environment that will enable other developers to achieve their ambitions, find collaborators and friends, the way that this community helped me in the past.
