Tower Wars Extended

Hey everyone!

This is probably my second or third post here on MGSA. I just wanted to display my game Tower Wars Extended for some feedback.

I have worked on this game on and off for about 5 months and I learned a whole lot of new things while making this game. I used GameMaker Studio for development.

Over the past 3 years this is probably my first proper polished looking game. All my other games seemed to have come out ike any newbie's game would :P

Any feedback is more than welcome :) Thank you

  • Definitely a game that can go far if you work on it some more and maybe get it on mobile! It was really stupid (in some way) but at the same time it had me playing for quite a while :D

I really think if you work some more on balancing the different units, improving the graphics and adding more content it will be a great game.

One big issue is that it is very plain and boring in a way that there isn't much to do other than select the best units, deploy them and watch.

Overall great idea and has quite an addictive nature to it! Hope you continue working on it a bit and make it even better :)
  • Hey Zaphire!

Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm glad it kept you hooked for a little bit at the moment. My initial plan is to port it to mobile with new some new artwork :D

Is there something you would like to see in the game while the battle goes on? Such as spells or something else for more action?

Thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it!
  • In terms of gameplay I don't think that spells etc should be implemented unless they are really well balanced and doesn't influence the game too much.

Maybe have something like upgrades for characters that a player can buy such as Armor, Damage Increase etc for specific classes. Another idea could maybe be castle upgrades where you put an archer on your castle that cannot be killed.

Another issue I saw is that you have to wait for the characters to destroy the enemy castle even tho all the enemies are dead. This is maybe where castles with archers on it could make it more difficult and give that "Shit, that was close" experience.
  • Nice job! It's nice seeing you implemented the GJ API. Just a few notes, as Zaphire said. Maybe add a clicking mechanic for the player to attack while they wait as well or something. As the when the characters start overlaying on each other you lose the sense of scale.

But good job! I'll be looking forward to seeing your updates.

That's a great idea! Thank you :) I'll most definitely plan out those features! I see your point on how that could make the game more interesting!
