  • Hi

How about some screenshots? a description maybe? Just something to entice us into taking some time to have a look at your game.
  • Sure :)

BOOMSLANG, is a snake like game, with some tower defence components. Rescue the survivors, while avoiding barrels, zombies and yourself.
the front of the "snake" and back, has 2 shooters, they kill zombies automatically while you control the movement of the snake.

Is there a way to play it without requiring that Kongregate know everything about my FB account? ... I think I have a Kongregate login somewhere, but I can't seem to play if I don't log in (and that password isn't remembering itself). The login box would keep coming back when I clicked close.
  • @dislekcia, can also play it here:

Any feedback would be great, even bad ones LOL
  • Fun little game! I like the idea a lot!

Was a little confused as to what was going on at very first and crashed into a wall. Though on the second attempt I saw immediately it was a snake clone!

I felt a bit headachey after a while because of the jittering of the players (since they seem to snap from one place to another). Would it be difficult to make this movement smooth? You can still have the player only turn at the grid locations (I presume it's working on a grid)? Should be not to bad to lerp the positions. I wanted to play longer but was actually feeling head sore after a bit!

Lovely game for just a weekend of work! There is a lot of juice that could be added to this game (bigger bullets, kickback from zombies being shot, particle effects!) but the gameplay is pretty entertaining I think (if you can fix that jittering and I'll def want to try again!)

Thought of making the bullets shoot at the mouse cursor? Might be a bit too challenging but could be fun
  • @raxter, thanks for the great feedback
correct, it runs on a grid and they do snap, will smooth it a bit.

Yeah, planning on adding a store to increase:
    Weapons
    Fire rate
    Gun range
    etc.

Made it more for mobile, but thats a good idea (mouse shooting), then the user can move around and shoot on desktops.
  • It looks pretty cool! Amazing for a weekend of work! :D

The idea reminds me of Call of Snakes which looks like Nimble Quest:

I'm not mentioning this to tell you it's a clone - This day and age similar games ideas happen WAY too easily! I think it's good to know what similar games are already out there so you don't inadvertently explore the same thing other people may have already :)

    Kick more ass! :D
  • @Tuism, thanks for the video, didnt know about these games LOL, oh well, will improve a bit, and move on. See nimble quest has over a million downloads on Android, impressive.
  • See no I didn't mean "don't make your game cos these exist", I meant "these games had similar ideas, you can explore other territories out of what you've got so far"!

This is especially true since there is no such thing as complete and utter originality in the world, and that's perfectly fine! It's the way your creation is put together that matters - it reflects you and your ideas! If you give the same topic to 20 people you'll get 50 different solutions :)

So - keep it up, keep exploring what you want to explore! :)

(that said, if you feel a prototype has been exhausted and you want to try something else, the ability to be not precious about your ideas and moving on is important too :) )
  • There are millions of helicopter games, yet Flappy bird came many years later and was successful :)

This was just a quick game, this is my main project for a company in US:

  • Well, it's pointless using "that guy that won the lotto" as a barometer/yardstick, it's not replicable, so you can barely learn from it. But yeah that's kiiiind of what I meant, just make what you want to make, and knowing what's out there already is a good idea :)

    Grammarai looks interesting :)

  • Interesting take on snake, I like it :) I did find the controls confusing, though. Sometimes I thought I knew how to control their direction and other times it seemed like they just moved randomly.
  • That was pretty elegant :)

I really liked the way I thought it wasn't going to get much harder and then it turned out that dodging zombies was actually hard. I assume you're spawning more zombies each time the player picks up a survivor and that's having an exponential effect on limiting the potential movement space.

Would be cool if zombies tried to eat survivors after a certain amount of time maybe...
