[Event] Tech4Afrika (2-3 May) - Looking for speakers
Hello all!
So I've submitted a talk to Tech4Afrika grandiosely title, 'How South African Games took over the world.' They've said it's likely to be accepted and they asked me to spread the word among other game people because they're hoping to have an entire morning of game dev related talks. So if you'll be in Joburg on those days and have an idea for a talk that's game related then submit it! :)
Many of you might squirm at the though of attending a mainstream tech event, but this one is quite quirky and progressive. From their front page:
"We do not merely aspire to the heady heights of conformity through neutrality, blandness and crass marketing. You probably don't even care that this rebellious little event contains no agenda or bullshit and looks only for the finest content we can find. Just go back to schmoozing at your mass marketed, bland, cheaply run watered down "networking functions", and close the browser behind you. Tech4Africa is about breaking rules, upsetting trends and unsettling institutions but first and foremost, great content. The kind of content people talk about."
I'm also organizing an exhibition of local games and a game of Joust to be at the conference to liven things up :P.

This is a great platform for us to talk at for several reasons. We will be winning hearts and minds of the IT sector of business one of the places that has the budget and knowledge of how software is produced. More importantly we will be talking to 100's of potential game developers and this might really help to swell up our community bring some unknown talent to the make games table.

Just looking at their YouTube channel it does look like they've recorded previous years' talks - haven't heard anything officially though :).
I'd listen to that talk :D. Pity this event is about technology - but you should do that for A MAZE this year :D.
Do a string search for games and UPVOTE!!!
