Johannesburg based 24 Bit Games is expanding and looking to hire some Technical Programmers as well as both Unity and UE4 developers in order to keep up with the current level of demand for our services.

Our past and current projects range from porting to co-development to tool production for Indie and AAA clients on such platforms as mobile, PC, VR, and both current and next-generation consoles.

Recently shipped titles include Heave Ho and Broforce for Switch, GORN for PSVR, updates to both Gone Home and Tacoma for PC & Mac, and Game Preview releases of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator for Game Pass on Windows 10 and XboxOne. Our client list includes Free Lives, Devolver, Fullbright, Annapurna Interactive, Disney, Landfall, Unity, and NaturalMotion to name a few.


General Requirements:
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Can work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to self motivate and manage tasks in a remote working environment.
  • Ability to get up to speed with an existing code base.
  • Ability to write well thought out, optimised, and extendable code that follows established coding conventions.
  • Proficient in C, C++, and/or C#.
  • Familiarity working with source control, specifically Git and GitFlow.
  • Ability to diagnose issues through debugging and profiling code.
  • Secure and comfortable remote working environment.

Bonus Points:
  • Understanding of 2D & 3D graphics pipelines.
  • Understanding of standard game development optimisation principles.
  • Experience working on mobile, VR, or console platforms.
  • Experience using DirectX or OpenGL APIs.
  • Experience using JIRA or related task management tools.
  • Passionate about video games.
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree.


Technical Programmer (intermediate to senior):
  • Experience creating or working on game development tools and/or engines.
  • Excellent knowledge of C, C++, and/or C#.
  • Passion for creating efficient, optimised, and well crafted systems.

Unity Developer (all levels):
  • Experience building games or related real time applications in Unity 2017, 2018, or 2019.
  • Experience programming in C# and .NET.
  • Excellent knowledge and familiarity with Unity Scripting and the Unity Editor.

Unreal Engine Developer (all levels):
Experience building games or related real time applications in UE4.
Experience programming in C++.
Excellent knowledge of Blueprints.



Employment is for an initial 6-12 month contract period, with the intention of transitioning into permanent positions should it suit all parties. Salary ranges vary between R15,000 to R60,000+ per month, depending upon position, skill levels, and experience.
