F: BuildX

Project Description:
A fast paced game that tests your reflexes and ability to construct various objects with two word instructions. ie: Build House, etc...

Planned Gameplay:
1. Randomly selected scenarios (from about 12)
2. each scenario must be completed in under 5 seconds
3. each difficulty level will reduce time available to complete scenario (level 2: 4 seconds, level 3: 3 seconds)
4. Level 1 requires that 5 games are completed
5. Level 2 requires that 6 games are completed
6. Level 3 requires that 7 games are completed (this is the last level after which the game is over)
7. High scores will be based on total time taken to finish

These are my game screen concepts.

About the Author
I am a Programmer by trade (mainly JS, Java and AS3), but I do dabble in the dark arts of MS Paint and Paint.net on occasion.
As a Game Designer, I have many game concepts, mostly recycled old ideas (but oldies are goldies).
Let me know if you need a hand with your projects as I am really revving up my part-time project work this year.
All the best of luck to y'all.

  • Hey SebastianS

I had a go at this, and built many houses and robots :)
I initially tried to position the piece with my mouse until the timer ran out, but I tried the arrow keys on the next one and quickly got the hang of it.

I think this kind of game would work well with wacky and funny scenarios.
  • @dINGLE Thanks, i'm still going to implement mouse interaction and possibly gamepad support at some later stage. I really appreciate you feedback.
  • Cool! It's like a Warioware type quick reaction game. I like :) Great scope and great execution (so far) :)
  • @Tuism Thanks, your words are encouraging.
  • WHOOOOOO! @Tuism's right, this reminds me of Warioware a helluva lot. Keep sticking some more interesting and challenging building scenarios in, and this'll make a great quick-fire game for mobile or somesuch. Looking forward to seeing what else you add! :D
  • My 0.5A release includes Five mini-games. See top post for download link.
  • Just posted 0.6A - better Scene selection and background colours
  • @SebastianS - can you post a video of this? My crappy laptop does not seem to have the requirements to run this (or I'm too much of an idiot to figure it out). Concept sounds really cool, so would like to see it in action.
  • @FanieG the video is up, see first post for deets.
