Funny story about Starcraft's development

TL;DR: One of the major reasons why starcraft turned out as good as it did is because of a 'fake' demo of a game called Dominion storm at E3. Article is old but I highly recommend reading it if you haven't yet!

    This immediately made me think of another unreleased RTS game (besides Dominion Storm), which at first I thought might have been Dominion Storm (but I was wrong).

    It seems like there was a lot of innovation going on in the RTS space at that time... and we only got a fraction of it to play. I tihnk like RTS gamers are the poorer for it (though I think there are good reasons for the fact that so many RTS's failed).

    Daniel Cook also seems to feel that the genre stagnated pretty quickly after an innovative start. Though Paradox seem to be doing some cool things in this space recently.
