edited in Online Competitions & Jams
Hey all, there's a boardgame contest going on right now:

It's by KBG, Korean BG company. They ran this contest two years prior too and I entered Cartel and got finalist with it :) totally worth your time doing it.

Please share boardgame related contests here, but if you're interested you mostly should just hang out and subscribe over at the Design Contests forum on BGG:

Every month there's a 24 hour contest with a fresh theme. It's a very interesting exercise, like a game jam:

There are also contests with special restrictions that make it interesting and realistic to complete, and runs quite long. They're ones like One Page Print & Play, or 18 Cards, or 9 Cards (win a few components). I've seen some of them emerge to get published via Kickstarter or other means, it's by no means simple, but it's a great chance to practice and engage.
The list of contests and info (always updated) is here:

Share contests you've heard about and/or doing here!

Happy having fun physically! :)

  • Here is one I found on The Game Crafter: Learning Game Challenge
You must design a game where a playful environment creates an opportunity for understanding real world problems and issues.

Your game should have a clear learning objective (or objectives). How you achieve that objective is up to you: it could be obvious and apparent, or subtle. We are looking for games where the objectives align well with the game and its mechanics. We’ve found that the best outcomes are often achieved when a game’s play objectives align well with the learning objectives -- that is, by playing the game as designed, the players inherently demonstrate mastery of the learning objectives.

You are free to design for any audience and work under any genre of game, but you must be able to articulate the learning objectives of your game.
    Thanked by 2Tuism dammit
