Congratulations on launching! People seem to be loving it!

Just a small criticism about the icons/header images on Steam.

They seem say "Indie Horror Game" pretty clearly. They seem to borrow the marketing language of Slender Man-likes.

Which didn't appear to be what got people excited about the game in the first place, those videos of a space hulk and allusions to Event Horizon narratives.

Maybe this is being successful in attracting fans of horror games. But I'd presume that it's receiving suboptimal click-through from sci-fi fans.

Though I'm not going to presume I know where the fan base for Stasis lies. But I am surprised by the approach.

Sorry to bring up criticisms at this point.
  • Thanks guys.
@BlackShipsFilltheSky - ill do some testing and check :)
  • @bischonator - Congrats on the release :D and all the positive press too!

I just wanted to mention that there seems to be a bug where occasionally the inventory shows up as empty. I've had this happen near the first tram, for example, and I had to leave the area and return before the inventory repopulated.

@bischonator Cool, I really don't mean to be raining on the parade, and I also don't mean to say don't sell Stasis as horror. Just that the skull could be mistaken for a game about pirates or tomb-raiding, and the wires leading out from it aren't necessarily going to be read as wires. There's a really compelling fantasy behind Stasis! (and a lot of that has to do with the horror of the situation portrayed).

I'm looking forward to playing this through when I have some time. That Rock Paper Shotgun review sold me. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/09/01/stasis-review-pc/
  • STASIS punches so far above its weight that I almost can’t believe it exists.
That gives me the warm and fuzzies.

Can we put that down to a quantum storage device glitch ;)

  • I can live with that, @bischonator

I'm about 2 hours in now.

On the one hand there's lots of little niggles that I would obsess over if it were my game - the animations not syncing with the audio, the way he glides across the floor like MJ doing the moonwalk, some poor audio design leaving you struggling to hear the dialogue.

But on the other hand, I'm amazed... and a bit stunned at the ambition and the depth of what Chris has achieved here. The writing is really triple-A standard and I've had a good chuckle over a couple of the PDA diary entries already. The story is very interesting, with some unique spins on the horror/sci-fi genre. I'm intrigued and quite captivated by it so far.

Being a single Indie dev I related to how hard you must have worked and how hard it must have been to stay focused and motivated on the single project for years. You did yourself and South Africa's Indie community proud...congrats!
