  • Hi I'd like to demo a game I've been working on for the past month that's nearly completed and get some last minute feedback.

    Presenting Play Phil.

  • Hey Dave.

Looks like an interesting collection of mini-games.
I'm curious, last minute before what?
  • The project deadline is for this Wednesday so it would be any thoughts for the next update to the game.
  • Two Questions:

What time would you suggest that someone driving from Pretoria leave, in order to be at the meetup in time? Sorry I'm from Nelspruit, so have no idea what traffic to expect along that route.

If I want to set up a game for before/after the meetup, do I need to bring a PC along?

This will be my first attendance, and I'm super excited to finally meet some of you. Had to be in Pretoria on business this week, so I'm really glad that it coincides with the meetup :)
  • @FanieG

If you want to set up at the back of the auditorium, you will need your own machine, if you are wanting to do a focused feedback session you can probably borrow somebody's laptop.

I can't advise on the travel time unfortunately.
  • @NDDDave Cool! We'll put you down for a slot! :)

@FanieG Yeah, don't you want to use your rare meetup attendence to do a focused feedback slot? Maybe on your competition F game? :)

    @Everyone else,

We're quite short on content this month it seems! Either we can curate a video from the GDCVault or we can just have a lighter meetup than usual with more casual socialising and game playing? The latter might be a neat change of pace, thoughts?

Although I'm sure loads of you will have games to show at the last minute, as is the tradition :P.
  • @Bensonance - I'm super shy and a terrible public speaker, so I would much rather just set up in the auditorium before/after the meetup. Was planning on bringing along my competition F game. I'm a lot better with smaller groups or one-on-one interactions, but thanks for the suggestion.
  • Unfortunately I won't be making this meetup, my flight back isn't landing till Friday! I'll miss you all!!!! So psyched for everything! PWORAREREARRR!!! (Sorry GDC madness setting in)

  • I won't be able to make it tonight. If you want something good to watch, there was a GDC Vault talk that I intended to show/watch a while back (it was the one where we had technical trouble and Rami ended up doing an impromptu load of awesome). I can't link it directly (don't have a member pass any more), but it's a talk by Thomas Grip from Frictional Games about "Making Storytelling a Fundamental Part of the Gameplay Experience" that I was pretty keen to see.
