GameMaker in Parallels

I work between a PC and a Mac - first proper go at GM - sometimes I might want to pull a project across the 2 platforms.
I use parallels on the Mac. I find GM keeps crashing in parallels - I don't have to be doing anything - open GM, after a minute or so it just dies.
Any pointers/ tips would be greatly appreciated.
