Made With Monster Love Launches (kinda, sorta, maybe)

edited in General
Over the last little while I've seen the indie message being repeated several times that you need to start marketing often and early. (In particular Alexander Bruce from AntiChamber). Indeed I've come to believe that you live and die by your ability to market your game. The entire gaming space is saturated, and even bastions like steam are heading towards over saturation as they open up the platform and accelerate programs like greenlight.

As such I decided that it was time to get 'mah social media properties in order. I had reservations about doing this as, well... social media. It also means a lot of effort to interact and engage with all of those things, on top of my own already distracting social media. But there are enough useful free tools out there that I figure there is no excuse ( Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc).

I also plan to use this as an interesting experiment on what effective channels might be. Twitter, obviously, but for instance can I get traction for an engineering themed game on google plus which is quite a tech heavy community and has less oversubscription than facebook? Who knows.

Also this means I'm getting pretty close to that point where I'm going to be working full time on Cadence, at least for a while. Yays!

  • I feel you've got the right of it. Back in the old days, I would always be amazed at the people who found my personal website with no effort on my part.

These days you have to market market market, like you say. So I feel this is a necessary evil - well a necessary "inconvenience" more like - it can work wonders for you in the right circumstance.
  • Love the site, btw, now that I've had a chance to look at it :) Can I make a suggestion on your meta description? Include a CTA (call to action) to encourage click though. Literally, "Click to find out more." etc.
